That’s because you were using the auto save slot for your save game. Make a manual save next time and you’ll be fine.

Well if your old game was deleted you can't save it anymore. So I'd do it on any game in the future that you don't want to lose. The top save slot is for the autosave. I think it says that, but I don't remember off the top of my head. Sucks to lose a game though.

Maybe you had overwritten the autosave slot manually and not made new slots / saves.

The slots are sorted by time, the newest one is at top. If you make a save after the autosave then the autosave is below.

Is that how it always worked? I could’ve sworn there used to be a specific slot for the autosave. What you’re saying makes way more sense though. Either way manual saves are the answer here.

If your manual saves disappeared then that’s either because you deleted them or that’s the first time you played since the career overhaul months ago when they changed the save format and thus rendered old saves incompatible and obsolete.

That's true with the specific slot but it moves in the list around like others.

You mean like there is a specific slot for autosaves that will be overwritten but that specific slot isn't always on top?

i started a game a few weeks to maybe a month ago but i doubt it and manually saved quite often and started a new game actually after closing the game and then started a new game didn't even look at previous saves ♥♥♥♥♥♥ around for a bit closed the game opened it again went into load game noticed there was only one and i said ♥♥♥♥ off you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ me deleted the rescent save restarted the game and the old save was still not there believe you me i did not unintentionally delete my own save game

I learnt something today too !
I must say a massive thank you to the OP for bring this up.
Upon reading this post I checked my save.

I thought I was doing the right thing by saving the game myself every now and again.
When I checked and had a close look there was only one save file, which I thought nothing of but when you look closely at the save file on screen it does say (auto) in there.
I quickly created a new save and sure enough the word auto does not appear in my new save file.
Phew ! all my work saved. I know it doesn't help the Oddly Mech but just wow what a timely post on his behalf, Thank you.

And to think I was considering starting anew just to get in and out of debt for the achievement. I think I can try that safely now.

I've accidentally deleted my save games a couple of times. It happens, but it sucks. Granted it's not really like there's a major story or anything it's really just the same stuff over and over again but I get the frustration for sure.
