High GPU temps with Vsync
I have a question about the temperature my GPU is reaching when running this game with the following configuration:

-native resolution (1080p)
-lowest graphical settings
-Vsync enabled

With these settings, HWMonitor is reporting that my GPU is reaching 70c, and even today reached a new all time high of 72c with 100% GPU usage.

I do not have two monitors, so I am unsure if these conditions are maintained for an extended amount of time, however.

I am also aware that these are considered safe temperatures for a modern GPU; however, given the graphical quality of this game, I thought it was odd that my card would reach the highest temperatures it ever has on a game that is not graphically demanding.

For reference, my card usually peaks at 70 when playing Escape from Tarkov with almost all settings at their lowest (it’s a highly unoptimized game).

Here are my specs:

-Intel Core i7 6700k, factory settings
-16GB DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) memory
-MSI GTX 1070 GAMING X 8G, latest driver, factory settings
-1x 200mm fan intake
-1x 120mm fan intake
-3x 140mm fans exhaust

I see no reason for this game to be stressing my card as much as it is with Vsync enabled. Do you think something is wrong with my GPU? Has anyone else experienced this? Are there any other settings I can change?

Are you using the Latest Hotfix 430.53 Nvidia driver as the 430.39 driver was causing some problems especially on Windows 10. Available from the link below.

just downloaded the update and no improvement
I did notice a higher impact on my GPU in my secondary computer myself. Overclocked GTX 1060 3GB that can go up to 2100 Mhz core air-cooled @ 60c. This system runs 75 FPS Vsync matched to 75 Hz screen @ 1080p:
Before update: GPU ran around 1300~1500 mhz @ 40% - 60% utilization.
After update: GPU runs 1900~2100 Mhz @ 70% - 86% utilization.

Granted it's only maxing out at 59c temps with a custom fan curve. But the update did do something to the game that causes PCBS to hit the GPU harder than before.

Other info: I'm using Windows 7 64-Bit in this system and nvidia driver 411.70.

Radeon 7, tried Vsync and framerate lock at 60fps, getting up to 74c 4k fantastic settings. :( All other games the temps barely break 61c, maybe 65c max on American Truck Simulator. I even tried scaling it down in graphics level and it doesnt change. Its fine when I look at a CPU screen but internals of the CPU stress the GPU.

Any fix for this in the future? (Vsync doesnt seem to be working all the time, normally with performance monitor through Radeon software, I can see FPS, but this game doesnt show it)

I use FRAPS to see FPS in-game at all times myself, it works in every game. But like I said in my above post, the developers did change something with PCBS in the most recent patch a few months back and what ever they changed causes PCBS to be more demanding than any other game on the market at the moment.

You didn't mention what resolution you are running the game at. That does matter.

However do also remember that any temperature up to or below 95c is 100% completely normal for a video card and nothing to be alarmed about at all.

i tried at my monitors normal 2560x1440. i also tried to lowest 1440x1080 .. literally no difference except visual ... i still find my gpu running at the temps of a metal slide in summer alarming. the temps isnt the most important though.. the loud fans is.. its horrendous :/

That would be the issue there then. Trying to run at 2560x1440 on a 3080 in this game is going to make your gpu run at 100% constantly. 86c is a little warm yes but again: That's nothing to be concerned with. It's not going to damage your video card at all. In fact there are safeties built in to the video card and your computer. If it ever got to dangerous levels it would just turn your computer off before it sustained damage so there's nothing to actually worry about.

However that said: What is your house like? Do you have air conditioning? Is it hot outside? If no A/C and it's warm outside then there's not much else you can do.

the place where i live is usually damp and soggy, im too poor to afford AC , the hottest it ever was here was alike 28 degrees celcius in the summer. should i invest in a few fans?

Well you might want to look at your computer case instead and make sure you have good case fans in there, they're flowing the right directly (front-to-back usually) and if you haven't done it in a long time it might be a good idea to take your video card out and 'remove' the dust bunnies with a can of air.

Other than that there's not much you can do for it. Just use it and let it do it's thing and don't worry about it unless your computer is turning off while you play games.
