Isn't it "hide and shut your mouths"?
You right :D Didn't play the game for a while. Hyped about tournament though, want to watch live
It's a really bad time for a tourney, so lets see when they host it.
If they go by their roadmap the tournament will be over by the time they add heroes.
Since heroes will have permadeath, it seems if you lose your hero, you should just leave the match. In Warcraft 3 you could resurrect them. If the other player's hero stays alive to level 3, 4, or even 5 I don't see how you could win without your own hero.
Do you leave the match as soon as you loose a squad ?
Have you played the singleplayer?
A unit that can make flanks worthless, since moral near your hero is always on max anyway for example.
A single unit that can make saxon archery opener even harder, when it can simply slaughter through ranged squads while beeing instantly in the game.
A single unit that bleeds squads in replenishing cost while itself beeing tanky so just has to heal up without costs.
A single unit that can completely levering false engagement in a rock paper scissors manner, cause it can turn the tides on its' own with its' efficiency, which makes good engagements still getting punished.
At first glance, this are already alot of contradicting points for how this rts is meant to be played in its' roots, only because alot of people ask for it cause of "it would be cool, even tho they can ♥♥♥♥ everything up"-casual behaviour or people who haven't relized yet that at some matchups you only have a single way to open your BO or it's lost, so they want a "one tool that fits all" right at the start of the game.
They should really be careful with the implementation and how to balance it out and make it a toggle as a game setting so one can turn them of, since they can UTTERLY change the game and how it's beeing played in its' roots.
You don't know how they will affect the moral. They will buff it for sure, but the aoe will certainly be much smaller than in campaign, andI guess that only a few one will give a big buff of morale as an activable capacity (while other heroes will have other capacities).
I think their «game design» purpose is to help for balancing early game, not to make it even more imbalanced…
Even if they can heal for free, you still don't know anything about their upkeep cost.
Heroes will have strenghts and weakness and a valuable tactic will be to focus them.
But that's essentially the basic hero design, so we have a basic overview how mechanically the game will get influenced by them, such as I said as abilities, moral aura, beeing more tanky than a normal soldier model, having better close combat performance than a normal soldier model, starts with the starting squad.
