My hope for the future with Ancestors Legacy 2

With the devs currently working on War Mongrels, we aren't sure if they will ever return to the Ancestors Legacy formula and gameplay. But I was thinking of a game plan to return to Ancestors Legacy 2, do it with a Warhammer fantasy vibe.

GW wants more games, and Warhammer would put Ancestors Legacy 2 on the map instantly. FIx what didn't work in AL 1, expand features and run with the Warhammer setting for a great new game of AL 2.

I dont like this idea for a possible AL2 future. I prefer to have AL1 design (realistic, historically orientated), but seriously developed to the end (more complex and technically with higher standards compared to the very basic or outdated level they reached with AL1).

I also think Warhammer games/brand had so much attention in the gaming industry that its kind of boring to see more of it. LotR license would be awesome with this dev team, another design direction and a more hugely team, but that will not happen.

Warhammer 40k has a lot of representation. But Warhammer Fantasy isn't represented as much. (The Total War games and Vermintide are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.)

LOTR would be cool... but I hear the Tolkien estate is kinda stingy with the copyrights.

Correct there are hardly any Warhammer fantasy games out there considering it's such a great setting.

Or maybe even Age of Sigmar could work, considering an AL 2 style game wouldn't have the scope or depth of something like Total War.

This game with its niche realism road is so great (even if not developed to the end and left dead at a very basic level). I would be very sad to waste this niche-material just to serve areas (phantasy genre in general, Warhammer brand) which are in the market in masses allready...thats my opinion as somebody who does not like to abstract phantasy genre or Warhammer brand. I think there are many games serving this allready due to the nature of game-development.

I also voiced for a more historical realism setting - TWWIII has just been announced and has already a big players base. Relic's Warhammer series are also been played extensively and they might have exhaust the RTS application.

I think a lots of players bought into the historical setting and changing AL2 for a third party IP might not deliver on the success that AL1 has had.
Having more DLC expansions might be the way to move forward and that can also be more achievable in the short term. The historical lore is endless providing the setting for unique DLC expansions.

You could even push the edge of the historical setting mixed with fantasy and mythology if done with a good balance. Ancestor Legacy has all the foundation to be an ongoing successful IP if it stay within the original setting instead of borrowing from other IP.

Whether they return with Warhammer or medieval style again either way I will be happy. Warhammer would put them on the radar instantly with brand recognition and allow for some fun gameplay possibilities.

But a return to medieval would be cool too if we got to make actual settlements and put up walls, gates, ladders. Free form building would be fun

Idk to my mind it's better be the LOTR setting... But it won't be AL anymore anyway, because Ancestors Legacy is about the history

I just want a new game, but Rome and the classical era would be cool in my opinion. You could be able to play in all the period's of Roman advancements, or playing as the Greeks would be fun.

The Byzantines VS the Ottoman Empire would be a cool expansion to have

i personally think they should keep it to medieval, maybe have some ancient warfare but later than that or complete fantasy and we kind of ruin the charm of ancestors legacy because.

Medieval would definitely be a great setting, though so would the ancient's, Romans, Spartans etc.

I'd want them to add more into this game, it still holds up to todays gaming. Add new civs like Greeks, Romans, Egypt etc.

That would be awesome. Though an Age of Mythology type of setting would be nice as well.
