Slav Campaign - Difficulty Level
Looking at the global stats we can see the Slav campaign has been completed by the lowest number of pllayers (25% lower than the next highest completion) yet it is unlocked at the same time as the other campaigns.

Now on to personal experience. I've only got aout 40hrs from beta, and done the training campaign here. But wondering why there is that jump in difficulty during the first level? When the enemy spam armies.

Is this a "think outside the box" like "building a wall in a corner of the map to block pathing" issue?

Slavs are very weak and fairly expensive, not much else to it.

In my case I stoped Slavic campaign when I saw that bug again that setlement destroyed by catapult is useless for it can not rebuild production sites and any defence. Also unit struck by catapult can be bugged to be unable to retrain, also - same - mission I retreated my cavalry one unit got stuck I had to disband it.

I know that Slavic units are overpriced but with latest tech - lammelar upgrades I hope they are fine besides their upgrades are looking very nice and their archers are still great :) (I see their mechanics "steamrolling trait" typical for Slavic history might be nice in their gameplay.) I will return to Slavic campaign when I ll read in a patch that bug disabling setlements by catapult fire and retraining issue caused by catapults are solved. Too many ppl cry about food when playing Slavs and Vikings I wonder why when vikings they have income upgrades and upkeep upgrades. For me food is problem for Slavs - little chance to use other temple bonuses - but also when playing Germans if using one or max two units of cavalry.

Managed to beat it last night. It's riddled with moments where you have to survive against sudden hordes of Germans and/or other Slavs. You really have to master using defensive formation with spears and your crappy sword and board infantry while using horse archers to get behind them and shoot the back. For the first mission you should keep the majority of your army in the main camp with units set to defensive formation at the entry points while horse archers shoot the back after the enemy is fully in the fight. To drive home the seeming recurring theme of the campaign, the last mission basically requires you to use the bridge to your base as a bottleneck, anything else will see you mulched by the whole population of Bavaria given war cleavers.

That said it honestly was really fun for me for some reason. Maybe because I enjoy ranged units in this game mixed with cavalry. Might make a guide for the campaign honestly.

Slav campaign is easy, but if you did it like I did, one campaign after another, you'd have a slight burnout, plus first slav mission is SO DAMN BORING until close to end.

I'll say I'm glad to be done with it.
I found this faction the weakest of the four, their units are made of paper, I thought I'd enjoy hit and runs with cav archers but when trying it on an archer unit they drop like flies.

Thank god you're fighting against mostly other Slavs, fighting the Germans felt like I had to outnumber them 3 to 1 if I didn't want 70% of my units wiped every engagment.

If you have your cav archers against enemy archers I prefer to move them to melee so they win with some dmg taken what is still much better than being shot by them imo.

There is no challenge in main-campaigns at all. The trick to win the slav campaign is spamming mounted archers and kite enemies around.

TBH I wish that the main-campaign was as challenging as average skirmish matches.

thanks for the advice guys, i tried it and it worked, the slav campaign is for me the most challenging, the rest seemed fine. its more about the sudden spam waves in the slav game, sometimes the waves come slightly separated and then its as easy as the other campaigns, but sometimes one is unlucky and they're simultaneous.. either way im able to do the missions but they are definitely more challenging than for example EZ mode anglos..

Slav campaign is do able , but more challenging than other .
Even with mission 1 , slave don't have good shield unit that can hold the line and the bridge causing your archer to shoot your own troop .

And then there is that mission where you fight both German and Slav at the same time , took me a while to figure out that better to secure only 1 flank and get rid of German to finish the mission .
Well... I'm noob at RTS and i finished slav campaign on medium difficulty fairly easily. I mean, it's hard in some missions (first one and the last one imo), but not that hard.

I finished all missions in hard difficulty and I found most of them easy whenever the enemy team doesn't have scripted events to rely on, even the scripted events aren't that challenging.
