Sub component factories
While its been about 4 months since I last played, I wasn't sure if there was an update. I had a pretty successful factory but started running out of room. I wanted to re-purpose space by building a separate factory just doing plastic and cloth components and then assembling them in another factory. Is that possible now? Could we also have just facilities for storage and transfer completed/assembled items to those storage exclusive buildings?

I can confirm this is not working.. Not sure why there are factories made just for specific things, if we can't transfer stuff from one to another.

I tried to setup a chemical plant and transfer those to my bullet plant, but it does not work.

Also annoying that once you leave a factory it just stops running until you come back.

Odd, it seems to be working for me. It's not easy to find, but if you go to the resources tab, top left corner, then scroll down and set an automatic transfer above X amount of units, it will go to your global stock, which can be accessed from the globe menu.

On the receiving factory, I think you have to set a rule to auto-import that same stock. Using this method, I was able to set up a Chem factory, make tons of guncotton, and then just basically plug in a chemical dispenser into my ammunition lines. Saved me quite a few machines.

When you leave a factory, it doesn't stop working, it will passively run and deliver items to your global stock, this all depends on how well the factory has been doing recently. You can check this in the factory's details panel and see what it is passively delivering.

You can also check the Help panel, there's full details there about multiple factories and intermediate items.

Then why if you go back into the factory from Global nothing has changed? I was expecting boxes everywhere, but nothing was being produced..

The factories keep producing based on your last week production if I recall correctly. This updates every 7 days, NOT daily. When you leave you won't see boxes build up etc because it's simulating based off the previous week not actually running lines like you are there. I am not a developer, but I assume this is for many reasons, most of all to reduce the load on the pc having to use resources to keep running physics etc. on huge factories making tons of stuff at once.

Do you need to spend a week in your passive factories to get the report to update on what is being sent to Global Stock(GS)? I setup a plastic fitting passive factory, then later on set it to create fab gloves. I send both to GS before switching back to main factory. I keep checking details of my factory in the globe but it doesn't show my passive factory making any fab gloves. After waiting a week, it still hasn't updated

The factory needs to be active for a week. Like sitting in it watching it. I'm not sure how sub components would work. Its always worked for me with final products, but I haven't tried sub components. when in the factory check the details panel and that should be what is delivered to Global stock every day.

Sub components (ie Intermediate items) act in the same way, you need to package them with the proper boxer and the factory will passively deliver them to the Global Stock when properly setup

This explains more specifically. You have to wait a week in the factory first, get the weekly report, then you can move on to over factories.

Although could I get a bit of clarification on how long you would need to wait in said factory? If it's a brand new factory at Day 1, Day 3 you get a little bit of stuff setup, and Day 6 your factory is good to run passive, does your weekly report count all previous days production or takes your most recent days production and applies it to the report?

This is a difference between arriving on the 6th day to get the report or having to sit idle for an entire week to get your maximum output on passive factories

Edit: You must stay an entire week passive in your factory to achieve it's max production. I know this where I cut off production of plastic fitting in one factory middle of the week and at week end report, it still appears as part of my production

this would tie in to the logistics ideas i mentioned in another threat really well
