The biggest game changers for AA are the blue items that add damage and a chance to cast spells when attacking. If you get 2+ of them AND decent attack speed, just attacking shreds enemies.
If you hold down auto attack. You can cast powershot while auto attacking. Dont worry about charging it up. just spam right click. It does minor dmg due to not charging it, but if you have lots of mana, you effectively attack at twice the speed.
getting the ability to get essences from kills too makes it even better and if you include mana from essence you can press other buttons if you want too.
and if you get the subclass to shoot projectiles whenever you have essence, you really just hold m1 and everything dies.
with the subclass and that one upgrade, which you can choose at start of run, you dont need to press a single other button to beat the game just m1 and move.
Weapon attack builds are fine, but more gear dependant. Melee falls off super hard in NG+1/2
How it is clunky to use at high attack speeds. You just hold down the button and move like you normally do, regardless of attack speed. Movement speed buffs will offset the movespeed slow down on attack. as will combo. Or the sub class if you want to go that route.
