Decent auto attack builds?
Basically the topic. The game so far seems to be heavily slanted towards spell/ability spam with the exception of the warrior class.

well they just about changed everything about the classes pala now needs to auto attack to generate mana and you can do that in between spamming of Q and there are not really many trinkets that support autohits sadly that are not blue and hard to find
Warlock is my favourite Auto Attacker so far. He has a talent that let you life leech based on your max HP on melee hits. Find a decent INT dagger and STR shield/gear (those usually have more max HP mods), pump enough INT and STR to wear those, then dump everything into VIT. You can have close to 1k HP to start the run and with some lucky trinket you can push that to over 1300, letting you leech 30-40 HP per hit, and you hit about twice per sec with some basic weapon speed upgrade. It's a lot of fun!

Have good autoattack all you want, you're still gonna do more damage if you throw spells out on cooldown. It's just how the game works, and how most games work.

Ranger might be good if you go Marksman but I haven't tried it yet. It seems crossbows are much stronger than bows but the 2h one requires str.
I have a good time with Rogue autoattacking. But yes, you will always use spells. Last run on him I had 600k from attacking, 400k form one spell, and 200k from the second one.

The biggest game changers for AA are the blue items that add damage and a chance to cast spells when attacking. If you get 2+ of them AND decent attack speed, just attacking shreds enemies.

Heres a little something for those who play ranger.

If you hold down auto attack. You can cast powershot while auto attacking. Dont worry about charging it up. just spam right click. It does minor dmg due to not charging it, but if you have lots of mana, you effectively attack at twice the speed.

warlock with a dagger and the ability upgrade that you heal from essences = hold m1 and win
getting the ability to get essences from kills too makes it even better and if you include mana from essence you can press other buttons if you want too.

and if you get the subclass to shoot projectiles whenever you have essence, you really just hold m1 and everything dies.

with the subclass and that one upgrade, which you can choose at start of run, you dont need to press a single other button to beat the game just m1 and move.

Ranger Crossbow attack build can output single target dps higher than most casters, it's just the aoe is a bit lacking. Bow as well, but I find it clunky to use at high attack speeds.

Weapon attack builds are fine, but more gear dependant. Melee falls off super hard in NG+1/2

How it is clunky to use at high attack speeds. You just hold down the button and move like you normally do, regardless of attack speed. Movement speed buffs will offset the movespeed slow down on attack. as will combo. Or the sub class if you want to go that route.
