dungeon traders are useless
So - I'm running into lvl 20 on every character. So far I remember using the dungeon traders only 2 or 3 times from about ... 50 runs? You basically meet them on almost every floor and basically the offers are always terrible. Does anyone else really use them or are they a complete waste? I met about 200 of them and only exchanged a few materials for skills I didn't have or must have exchanges like Markhams Items.

They are nice when you can trade ressources for trinkets or skills. Also you can go beyond the normal skill point "cap" gained by orbs.

Are you sure about that ? What I saw is that they offer a skill you have maxed but don't get the benefit. It seems bugged to me...
The skills given work fine

To what point ? I definitely got a skill that was maxed. I think when it gives you a not maxed skill it works, however the display is bugged and show the incorrect rank of the skill.

If you could get above maxed it would be huge tho ! What would be the values then ?

I will try to get a trader that propose me a maxed skill again this evening
So the trader's skill orb that is displayed or the stat highlighted is the upgrade that would be given. So when your selection shows 10/15/20 and the 20 is highlighted, that means you'll be upgrading from 15 to 20. It's better explained when a trader offers a skill orb you don't have because the highlighted number would be 10.

So in a perfect world imo, the trader should have your current skill orb value highlighted and the upgrade step should be flickering on/off. So say if you've got the first skill orb upgrade for 10, and you have the option to upgrade to 15, the number 10 would be highlighted and the 15 would be flickering

If you have concerns it doesn't work, simply check your upgrades before and after

if that is how it should work then it's bugged. I have made 3 screenshot from a run earlier :

You can see the trader offering me the second level of combo which is "16" https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3443913103

However, I already had that level of combo and I didn't pick the trade (sadly it didn't show the bonus for combo in my inventory) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3443913011

You can see during my combat later that I have 16 projectiles
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3443913320

If what you say is true then the trader should have shown me "24" for combo

I haven't find another example where the trader offer me a skill I already have maxed but when it happen I will make a video and do a bug report

Actually how the trading windows work is as follow from what I see in my runs :

If you give a skill, in the top windows the skill will be highlighted at your current level and it will decrease by one level

if you pick a skill, in the bottom windows it will show your current skill level and it will upgrade it by one level
Bunch of my runs were won at an early trader. The chances of getting purple trinket are fairly high. In addition, often you can at least trade trinket for a skill which are generally much stronger than most trinkets.
wack. i always use shady trader. getting 1000 resource trades is where it's at
