What's the deal? They don't really seem to do more damage than similarly leveled 1handers? Sure they get a damage move, but that's a pretty big sacrifice for no shield.

I want whirlwind. I'm not gonna give that up to use a shield that hits 1 guy.

Shield hits an aoe of enemies on very short cooldown, not 1.

Small AOE.

Regardless. Move sets, whirlwind gonna do more DMG overall then shield bash would.
Maul stun op. Paladin with 2handed maul = unstoppable machine. You don't need shield because of the passive.
the hammer is basically the best weapon, it adds free CC, the damage is a pedestrian concern when you're stopping the entire group of bloodthirsty scarabs and getting 2-3 free hits on them.

They do more damage by themselves as well on basic attack, look at the attack description. Mace does 100% of attack damage, 2H hammer does 150% and has a bigger chance to stun, for example.

I just beat the game with whirlwind because of its utility and power and I will never switch, I cant seem to find a new two hander but the one I won with has 50 and 7 lightning and I got a one hander that is more damage of 68 and 10 cold damage from winning but the whirlwind makes the lower dps one better to use going into NG+ and enemies are now tanky af again so I am gonna need to find an upgrade soon.

They added a looting and persisting equipement system to this but quite frankly, they really don't have anything interesting going for them outside of the active abilities.

The stats are boring nothingburgers. They really need to flesh out the systems they added to this game. Greater variety of active and passive abilities and interesting stat combinations.

2h mace aoe stuns which is nice with warrior leap for double stun in team environment

2h axe for spin damage goes crazy. war cry +30% haste and whirlwind is big damage solo

On hit weapon elemental effects proccing % would be great.
2h weapons give a small damage boost but a huge chad-energy boost.
i mean, greataxe hit stunning enchant is pretty dope.

They come with insanely good weapon skils, both Whirlwind and Mace Slam are incredible.
And the considerably larger swing is huge boon as well.
