I dont know if it's a bug or not but damn is it nuts. I specifically was leveling warlock for the passive resists he gives the rest of the characters.
Earlier today my co-op had a very high parry build going today, barely got touched by a single ray of a lightnings mages cast, and we heard a bunch of "TUNKS" stacked together, and saw nine PARRY pop-ups. In about 0.3-0.5 seconds, he parried 9 instances of damage from lightning and took a couple hits too, doing over 300 damage to his pool of over 700hp(With 173 lightning rez)
That, and the wisps on the final floor do a crazy amount and can't seemingly be hit with some status effects that would even let non-shield melee deal with them (like stun). I don't even know what the intent is with the wisps; it was just spamming throwing axes basically as the rest of my kit would have gotten me killed given they can't be stunned, and the two-handed weapons don't have a way to deal with that (like say daggers used to be able to in previous games by destroying projectiles).
Am I supposed to get lucky and find something I haven't? My hammer is only level 17, but my armor is all slightly above 20 (with one at 26), and I don't see how I'm supposed to mitigate the wisp damage without just being weird and throwing axes around a corner like I'm playing fantasy counter-strike. The final boss was much more reasonable then the two floors before it.
The lightning caster floor seems over-tuned, and the wisp flood just seems outright poorly designed. Feels like elemental is over-tuned, but armor is where it should be (at NG+1 at least)?
On another note, I also wonder how non-stun melee characters deals with the shadow casters? Can shields block the shadow curse from NG+ attacks? I assume having a stacking debuff probably makes this a nightmare for a lot of other melee character builds.
Oh, that's what happened to me yesterday then.. didn't even have time to acknowledge what happened.
I had 100+ light resist and 380 life... ;_;
