Thunderbird rare appearance?

My friend and I was doing a fresh run, and we did not see a single thunderbird to send back resources, until the floor with the second boss!
We also fully explored every map in hope to find one before dying.
Why is the bird that rare to find? :/
Atleast in HoH1 there was always an elevator to send back the resources before entering a bossbattle.

I'm not sure if mine is bugged but when I use the bird it sends 50% of what I have but then the other 50% isn't included in my end of run totals. SO for example the reason I'm checking this now is because I had 28k gold on me and sent with the bird but then the end of run total said I sent the 14k but then it said I only picked up 2.5k (was half a floor and a boss battle between bird and death). So my question is where did the rest go?

The gold listed as picked means only the gold coins laying on the ground. The rest is counted as treasures found. I dunno why it is separated like this in the summary, but it is.

That logic misses one thing though, the stuff you send with the bird isnt calculated into the stuff you lose when you die. So you have 1k gold and send 500 away, then you die (without looting more) and you lose 200, so you lose 200 instead of 400.

Oh yea true. Too tired to make decents maths xD. But still. In my mind I was like well why send 50% when I can lose just 40% in totals xD

It's 100% of what you have at the moment with 0% tax. Do you contort all words so badly?

Pretty sure it's 50% of what you have with no tax.
