Bug: Avatar fight

So my friends and I got Avatar to 75%, he transitioned to the next arena type, disappeared and never came back. Nothing ever happened and we ended up having to die on purpose to end the run. Probably should mention we have a group of 5 people as well.

Same here! Happened on multiplayer. What a stupid bug.

Happened to my friends and I as well. Really annoying bug.

Happened to me and my friend as well, NG +1. We got him to 75% and he proceeded to do the dashes across the entire map and spawned shades occasionally. This went on for 5 minutes plus and we couldn't figure out what was wrong. Found this and another thread on the forums talking about the problem.

We "quit" our game and re hosted. It spawned us OUTSIDE the map in the black shroud. We could run around but ran into obstacles occasionally, particularly below the arena. We finally found the boss out in the black and perhaps got him down to another phase with damage (magic missile homing is hax when you can't see anything).

Boss vanished again. More lunges. We were still outside the arena in the black, running around. I ran off to the right, far, and got to a safe place. We determined the boss was now back INSIDE the arena and we had no way in. We reset the game a couple more times but we were still outside, and him inside. That is the current disposition as I type. I don't think this run is salvageable. GG.

The fix is to not hit him when he comes back after the shadow creatures die. Wait until he does the spiral fire move then you can attack (you may have to get close to trigger it after a few moves of his). Otherwise apparently he dodges or whatever and ends up outside and you can't get to him. Someone I play with figured it out after we had 2 bugged boss fights. Then we went on to beat regular and ng+1.
