Shadow curse and Melee
Im sorry, I loved the 1st game but this is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrible. Shadow curse needs a rework or something. Melee suffers so hard solo or not.
I had friends that played they all stopped, and now the lobbies are full of modders or cheaters, whats even the point man, darksouls? cuz that exists... its called darksouls...
I've pretty much solo'd everything to NG+ 3 or 5 I can't get pally to 3 no matter what build or spec I try, thanks to work I get very little time to play anything.

Agree. I came to the forum with the same idea. Being the tank of the group I suffer terribly to the shadow curse as my friends are almost not impacted at all. It becomes very fast unberable to the point if I m wondering if there is still a point in tanking in ng+ ?

Played solo melee the other day - Shadow Curse is no problem at all.
I assume you are doing something wrong.

Seriously, stop lying. Shadow curse is a known issue that even the dev has said needs a rework. It is abysmal for melee on NG+. If you don't experience it, you are either trolling, aren't on NG+, or are too oblivious to have any clue what's happening in the actual game. Pick one.
Melees quite are in a disadvantage here, but donating one of 3 drink slots is all it takes to even it out imho. Learn to dodge, what enemies do it, focus on killing/CC'ing them or take the drink which decreases curse (even works on curse trade shrines). I'm having no problem with my pala, warrior and warlock with it. Didn't touch rogue tho no clue there.
Maybe give them instrinsic 50% curse resist.

i got 0 issues with the shadow curse as warrior, i just recognize which enemies cause it and stun and kill them asap, it is not so hard
There's a drink for it that changes it to 50% not getting sc and there's a plethora of bonfires throughout the entire game, with an architect option to make them even more common.

Outside of that you can enchant your armor with the zeal affix which reduces shadow curse gain.

These things combined should leave you with a net negative amount of shadow curse at the end of a stage.

If this isn't the case, skill issue.
*Sigh* "You are doing something wrong."
everything is NG+ 4-5 my warrior is NG+6
The pally which the least mobile toon is still at 2.
I even do modifiers on any other toon at 400+%
I can not however do it on pally, I ran the flat 100%

This then sounds more like a complaint about the Pala than about the curse affecting melees ;) I agree totally. The pala falls a bit flat - altho i love doubling my team's reg and make them debuff-immun (take that court!) with heal-spam. Solo I also dont feel him.

Ive gotten Pally to NG+3 super easily, I dont really play pally because I dont like it but I wanted the armor. I use dual daggers with the dex gear because it gives the most damage, I use the blessing of light, blessed bread and the drink that reduces shadow curse buildup. I play Justice because it just seems good, I focus a lot on Conviction and use the Soul Anguish drink, that way I'm always on maxed mana and so negate a lot of damage with Shield of Faith and deal good damage with Zeal, Justice can also get Punish the Wicked which is pretty sick.

Dual daggers are super good, they are the best weapon hands down, they give 50% parry, deal the most damage and gets the best weapon skill, its a dodge on a one second CD with an irrelevant mana cost that deals 200% weapon damage.

The only answer to shadow curse is to accept that it'll be 100 for you and build around it being there. this just means having enough HP to survive with it being there. Since the only effective builds in the game have %life recovery. Everything else just falls short.

Its possible to get more than 100% shadow curse reduction, when you have more than 100% shadow curse reduction you will lose stacks instead of gaining them, even if you dont get lucky enough to get 100% from the trinkets and also dont want to gear to have 100% reduction if you can still easily get to the last boss with less than 10 or 20 stacks.

Compared to the armor and res reduction from NG+ level the shadow curse is irrelevant, with 100 stacks of curse on NG+8 you will still lose more armor and res from the NG+ modifier than from curse, on NG+1 you need 50 stacks to equal the NG+ modifier.

I agree, for melee shadow curse is way worse. Yeah you can play around with gearing, trinkets, food etc. It still isn´t a fun mechanic for melee. You constantly have to circle around the enemies or you stack curses fast. Warrior kind of has the damage to at least focus most the enemies down fast enough. Paladin with strength build can´t do this. To solo higher ng I had to switch to int gear and play my paladin as a divine caster. Works quite well, but is no fun.
With my ranged sorcerer or wizard I can quite ignorew curses and even take the damage food which let you stack curses faster, because I simply don´t get any at all.

THANK YOU! What I've been saying.

Anybody sees the irony of the Paladin class being favoured over Priest by the devs...and then designing the game in a way that forces you to play the Paladin as an INT caster in order to progress?

The paladin needs str for gear requirements and spell damage.
Dex for weapon crit and damage.
Int for spell crit and damage.
Vit for survival.

It's stats are so spread.
