normally the first thing to check is whether a network reset via Windows feature or using the usual commands via terminal
Another possible cause for issues which look like that are related to game updates - that with every game update, depending on your internet security app, you need to give the game new permission to connect in multiplayer.
Or ~ could be just some Steam multiplayer server hiccup which is temporary.
That is a wrong approach to an otherwise interesting problem.
