Heroes of Hammerwatch 1+2 are Roguelite games, so you have permanent upgrades (town system).
HoH1 feels like Hammerwatch 1 with a lot more stuff, because it have mostly same enemies/tilesets.
Should you play Heroes of Hammerwatch 1 before 2? not really, but its a really great game too, with more content then new HoH2, because of the 2 Dlc's the first one have.
Thanks, I guess I'll get HoH2 only for now and if I like it, I'll buy HoH1 with DLC-s when on sale.
HoH2 is the way to go. As already mentioned if you play HoH2 you won't need to play HoH.
I've played Hammerwatch 2 and i liked it but yes no more updates for the game.
