returning to town
Is there an easy way to get back to town mid run? i entered the forest level 2 and it wouldnt even let me back track to lvl 1? it seems silly to lock you in untill you die then punish you for dying...

you can close the game and return at a later point. You can abandon run and pay the chapel costs as like dying. You must chose :wololo: or never chose and just play on a different character forever
just feels bad imo to have to literally lose progress (40% of what you've found) and die to go back to town and progress from your run. i get the idea of rogue-lites is to die and go again and again which is awesome. Its just weird to me to be punish as severally as 40% for a natural part of the game loop.

You can encounter spots (bird?) where you can send back to town all the ressources you found. Those will not be counted towards your ressurection fee.
Honestly, would feel better if the loot was lower, but you got a 40% increase in case of a success instead of 40% loss in case of a death (with chapel increasing the reward)

Feels weird how it is rn, cause the loot you collect does not reflect the actual anmount most of the time so it feels off

right. The only real answer was to abandon the run or finish it.

You have to keep going till you die. would be nice to know that because I thought I could backtrack and missed a lot of stuff. should be included in the tutorial.
Most likely the further you get in your towns upgrades and possibly items like the Papers of Nobility if they make a return will reduce the donation cost, also dying and restarting is the whole point of Heroes of Hammerwatch, early game has always been a grind. it is a Rouge-Lite after all.

It gets less frustrating with town upgrades, but the one thing I dislike is the randomness of the bird. It seems if you are unlucky, you can go through a run without seeing that thing at all.
For a game mechanic that allows you to send back 50% of what you are currently carrying, this seems a bit meh.

Then again, once the "donation" is low enough, you won't feel it that much on failing a run anymore. Seeing the deduction still kinda hurts, though. I get the motivation part of it (i.e. just don't die) but the randomness of the mechanic alleviating this just doesn't sit quite right with me.
I wonder if I would actually prefer to get rid of the bird altogether.
