How to start 'main quest'?

I'm obviously dumb but I have never seen any kind of quest system in this game, even though I have unlocked NG+ plus on a character. Is it hidden in some way? I was looking up how to get a 'grappleHook' and all of the guides say "you can't miss it, it's mandatory, just do the main quest". But I have no quest?

You're looking at hammerwatch 2 guides but you're playing heroes of hammerwatch 2. They're completely different genres. It's a common mistake though
