I mean, yes, the guy does have a bit of a difficulty spike, but that's still in the realm of fairness. And it's the final opponent of a run, so you are expected to use all the potions if you need to.
As with all bosses, there's a method to doing it. Don't really know about chaotic squad battles, but if you are somewhat coordinated, most attacks can be baited and evaded if you stick close to the opponent and circle-strafe.
In the latter phases you might need to keep a bit more distance if the fire ticks damage too hard, but even then, if you try to keep close, there's really not much the boss can do that should surprise you.
An outright nerf of the boss would make it a complete non-issue as it stands.
After the previous two levels, the final boss actually feels like the easiest part of the game.
You just need to remember the handful of attack patterns. In NG+ I once beat him with basically five attacks with a level 20.
If I die I just activate the copied profile.
I also do this before enchanting my gear.
You do you, however. Not judging, really. As long as you are having fun.
Your comment is already judging.
didnt take this as crap :) you had good points. i was more ready to get the classic "git good" and "skill issue" lol. I think my main problem is that the ng penalty in armor makes several of his att oneshot me
Its not fun at all to have my main DPS source disbaled or enemy completely immune to damage.
I had great regen with dragon heart trinket, tanked him for a few minutes, without even using potions. But my character was completely harmless because of these stupid mechanics. This kind of crap should be illegal in games.
This has happend to me also. Could stay alive a long time (for once) but couldnt do much dmg becasue of the disable or silence he does to you. Really pissed me off
...if you save yourself like this, where is the challenge?

I love Hammerwatch 2 (the Rpg one) so much and knowing it won't get updated or expanded I play HoH2 as the Rpg I wanted Hammerwatch 2 to be.
Hence the saving and loading.
after a few successful run, I've just NG+ on all my classes starting at lvl 10s (lvl 19 by the time I got to him). I say the level before the boss and the dragon head boss is way harder.
edit: just realize I haven't beat him with my ranger, will let you know how it goes in a min.
keep close to him. he also can rotate to continue facing you while he's starting the animation, but generally once the weapon is fully formed he will stop all rotation before making the swing. at that point you wanna be by his side, at minimum (ideally more behind him). for this reason, it is a good idea to keep close to him. there's nothing he can do that you cant recognize and move away from in time while youre that close.
imo this attack punishes bad positioning the most since it is by far the largest attack he has. so just keep close, and when dodging other attacks that may make you back off from him, always keep in mind that you dont want to stray too far or else you could end up with not enough room behind you to dash away from him if you notice him doing it while youre not near enough to slip behind him
Someone said that the dashes have logic to them, and then I died because he came from the same exact location twice in a row.
Yeah, they were wrong.
I found there to be some logic to them when I'm solo, but I think in multiplayer it's a lot more chaotic. In solo play I tend to cross the area once during the attack (e.g. from bottom to top) and to keep a dash at the ready for every attack.
As for the fire and having enough sustain: yes, that can be an issue with the fight. Depending on which character I took I had a harder time during that phase and by that I mean more than in the previous two levels of Court combined. Depending on what you found trinket-wise and what build you are running, this phase can get pretty dangerous.
If you can, try to snuggle between two fire hazards, as close to the boss as you can to dodge the next big swing and pray that your sustain runs out slower than his HP bar.
