Have you played Link to the Past?
Cracked walls are never required to progress, you can get around just fine without.
You need a certain kind of item to get past, I promise it'll be more fun to figure it out yourself.
I'm also disappointed that the wiki doesn't say how to, though. Maybe I should take over

If it's a glass wall (blue or red), you look for a switch which you must hit with the bow, vinyl frisbee or else.
If it's a concrete wall you must place a bomb at it, and let it explode to open a gate.
