Suggestion: DOUBLE THE PLAYER'S WALK SPEED.
Honestly, I think 90% of Ditto's "playability gripes" could be fixed simply by doubling the players' movement speed. This kind of goes for the roll too - but halve/40% the duration of the roll, because the distance on it is really good, maybe a tiny bit on the "far" side.

This will fix a lot of the pacing issues players experience in exploring your maps within ye olde 3-day limit, make "recover the Sword of Ditto" significantly less meddling (you don't even really go very far, it's just that the non-hero moves SO SLOW and you can do nothing about it), and really make the gamefeel 100% better. Even collecting the scattered items wouldn't take that long.

It's a small, simple thing; but what a QoL difference it would make.

You can cancel your rolling animation if you attack after you roll.Believe me you'll save ♥♥♥♥ ton of time.

Oh, I know. I'm talking about in the non-combat sense; the 'half the duration' is just a countermeasure to the increased move speed. It's all about giving it a slightly punchier pace; and when you dissect the criticisms of the game - they all pretty much amount to pacing.

This would make the game 100% worst.

I watch videos of this game on youtube, and I regularly turn the speed up to 1.5 or 2x, and the gameplay looks surprisingly normal at that speed.

I'm mixed on this subject.
Part of me find the walking slow, to the point I always roll/cancel when I move from place to place. I'd be happy to have a running ability, like a button you hlod to double your speed, even if it consume energy.
But the other part of me knows it's easy to evade monsters just by walking, and being able to run may ruin the balance of combat. In my case, I roll/cancel to outrun monsters, so it wouldn't change anything, but I don't know how others play the game.

If you have the ability to roll, it doesn't matter how fast you can run. You will roll all the time to go even faster.

Or better yet, make player faster and faster as they level up...

Or add movement speed badges.

Yeah I agree.
