Character Customization?

In the 12 minute gameplay video, the dev said the characters are random every time you die

This is a joke right? All the nice character models I saw in the trailers can't be chosen?
If that is true, that's just stupid. I was looking forward to creating my own character...

Eh, isnt really a big deal, the whole world itself is also randomized.
And all the characters have something unique and cool looking about them, so im not complaining

Yeah, that is ratheer disappointing. I get that making a character customization thingie is more work, and this game is made on a budget, but it's still like seeing a bunch of cool toys and being told you can't play with them.

I love being a new "race" potentially every run, but the character designs are so cool and diverse that I do wish there was some way to control it, yeah. It's not a huge deal though. You already can do this to some extent by quitting and reloading the game immediately after the intro cutscene - it will re-randomize your character, though there's currently a bug where you will also lose anything you carried over from a previous run if you do this. So there's that. :/

BTW, I also absolutely love that each "race" has its own sound effects. Really makes it that much better.

Kinda pointless since your character is only temporary. You will end up replacing them with another hero in the long run. Why bother getting attached.

Well idk about anyone else but I like to create a character to either resembles me or make someone cool in a sword game.

I think it's kind of cool that this game doesn't do what every single other game does. The philosophy, I guess, is that the sword chooses whomever it chooses, and you don't decide that. Would appreciate an option to pay fragments or something to opt into a particular species when losing/winning a run, though.
