XBOX One Wireless Controller doesn't work (solved)

I calibrated this controller in BigPicture mode without any effect.

You find the controller.vdf in:

YOUR_STEAM_DIR\steamapps\common\Steel Rats\Engine\Config

If force on will not work try force off instead.

Ditto - my xbox one controller doesn't work, either connected via bluetooth or wired. Controller buttons show up, but nothing functions. When I disconnect I get the keyboard and mouse buttons instead. controller works fine for everything else.

Switching the settings to Forced On worked for my Hyperkin Duke.

This works, no need to remove the file.

I had to choose 'force off' instead - and that one finally worked for me. Thanks anyway! :)

I deleted controller.vdf and this did not resolve the issue for me.

Then I tried launching the game from big picture mode (which is set to use my TV instead of PC monitor) but the game launched on my monitor instead.

Also the controller still did not work.

Did you experiment with the game property settings as Orfax mentioned - though as I wrote above, I had to turn steam input to 'off'. Getting Gamepads to work can be tricky for some games. Do you have an XBOX controller?

Otherwise maybe you have to try a workaround such as an XBOX 360 controller emulator (worked for me in a few games).

I have plenty of other games to play that work out of the box without doing homework. ... Uninstalled.

This was one of nine games from the April Humble Monthly package. As far as I'm concerned, this month only has 8 games.

Thanks. This worked a treat. Ridiculous that this wasn't sorted by the Devs before release on here as it's impossible to play without a controller.

Also worked for me just changing the setting to forced on, no need to delete anything
