Is there any way to kill the Shopkeeper more than once in a run?

I thought it was possible, so I started just fighting him on floor 1 every time. I figured that would either set me up for a good run (with lots of items), or give me practice killing him.

Someone in another thread (xsnow) pointed out that you can only kill him once per run. Subsequently, taking things a little slower and paying attention, he seems to be right. Killing the Shopkeeper on the first floor seems to prevent the Shop from openeng on floors 2 and 3. (I think killing the Smith closes both Shop and Smith on later floors)


So ... Has anyone killed Shopkeeper more than once in a run? If so, was it a one-time glitch, or is there some pattern? Either deliberate (eg, 'take X item first', or 'don't use token') or accidental (suspend PC mid-game? I'm sure I did that a few times).

It was probably just me, getting 'lost in the Dream' from fighting him so many times in a row, but would be interested to hear otherwise. It *was* good practice, just killing him a bunch of times to get the hang of it.

he doesn't spawn on later floors after you kill him, so, no, I wouldn't think so. I always wait to kill him on the floor before Abyss.
