Bug? Hens will not lay Eggs & Don't need care
Hello,

Loving the game so far, but I just got my first coop, and bought an adult hen and a chick. I put feed out for them each day, and it disappears, so I assume they're eating it. Their entry in the journal says they're fed, groomed and have been petted, but the adult hen hasn't laid an egg yet, and I've had them for a week. It also doesn't seem to matter whether or not I hold them or brush them, the journal always says they're cared for. They also do not go into their coop when I ring the animal bell. They seem to just be wandering around doing their own thing, no matter what I do.

I'm playing on 'Relax' node, if that helps.

Thank you!

Hi I've tried looking into this issue, but myself and other players have not had these issues with hens laying eggs. Are your animals by any chance sick (they won't lay eggs if they are). Is this single player or multiplayer? Did you move your chickens between coops or farms? Also, when you ring the bell there is a slight delay before the animals start going inside. I tested this as well and the animal bell appears to be working. Let me know if you are still having this issue or if you have more details about the bug.

I have the Same Problem, I also bought an adult hen and a chick, they also eat their feed but when I pet them, no hearts apper and I can't groom them too.
I bought now a new adult Hen but with this I have no Proplems.
My other two are not sick and I play single Player

Edit: I have now sold the chick and the next day everything was fine with the Hen again

This sounds like the same problem with my horse! See separate discussion. My problem also appeared to start when I bought another animal, in my case a cow and a sheep.

I am having these issues as well. I have had a total of three chickens, one purchased fully grown, two that are still chicks. This is in multiplayer, with three players. with all three of them, I was able to pick them up/pet them and brush them the first day I bought them, but after that they are locked in stasis. Each day their status screen says the have already been brushed, petted, and fed. and they are not sick. They also do not stay in the coop whether the bell is rung or not, just constantly wander everywhere. And no eggs.

In the meantime I have found out that it is probably just an ad error, because I now have 2 adult Hens who show no reaction to their care, but the journal says that they have received care and the hearts are growing too and they even lay eggs, BUT they didn't go to sleep

Same my hens that I bought as chicks aren't laying and dont go to bed. I was thinking I'd try throwing them in the coop at night and see if that helps.

I'm having this issue in singleplayer! One hen that I bought as a chick, one that I bought fully grown. They never react to care and they ignore the weather... They lay, so it's not terrible, just really frustrating.

Same issue single player, bought two chicks that have been full grown for several days now and are not laying eggs or pooping, I feed daily and pick them up, they are not sick, and they go outside in the rain instead of staying in coop.

Now I'm getting one egg a day from two chickens instead of two eggs, still no poop, chickens poop don't they?

Now I'm not getting any eggs. I played this game months ago while it was in ea in Wahoo and didn't have this problem, had eggs every day, I recently started a new game in PV and zero eggs now, the chickens are fed, petted, brushed and not sick, and I moved the coop too, didn't help. I really hope this bug gets fixed soon because it's just about game breaking, can't fill the quota's and can't cook any recipe that contains eggs.

I recently started playing at Wahoo Beach and I've noticed that the cows on Wahoo Beach poop every day but only once a week in Diamond Falls

I uninstalled/reinstalled the game and verified the files and now I'm getting eggs but the two hens I had before reinstall were still not showing hearts from brushing so I sold them and bought new ones and they show the hearts when brushed and petted, they are still not working right though as sometimes they stay in the coop when raining and other times they stay outside, but at least I'm getting eggs now. I just bought a calf and so far it seems to be working right as it stayed in the barn while raining and pooped on the first day.

I suggest to the other people in this thread that have animals that are not working right that they might want to consider selling them, reinstall the game then buy new animals, it worked for me anyway and the dev hasn't offered any other solutions or bug fixes.

I found that grabbing "broken" chickens and throwing them back in the center of the coop did help. My chickens weren't giving eggs but once I threw them they seemed to path find? The devs said they're working on it but they can't source the problem to fix it yet. It seems to be more common when buying chicks.

I tried putting them back in the coop but it didn't seem to help, I'm getting a few eggs now after reinstall but not as much as it should be, some days 1 egg, some days 2 eggs, some days none, and that is from 4 hens.
