Should I hit thugs?

I have a Golden Bat, which is the strongest melee weapon. I hit a thug full force and he still doesn't get knock out thus I am forced to get knock out myself for him to stop. Is there no point in getting stronger bats? My money is always safe by the way.

hit him if he gets in, (There's no way of knocking him down wile sober) Then run outside, get stoned, and while under the effects, hit him again full force, he'll go down...

Go outside, hit tab, select blunt(if don't have one, make or buy one).

just stay stoned all the time, you get double xp so it's worth it
