Most characters have 1 or 2 summon skills...and you play 4 characters
So, summoner playstyle is somewhat available

but...
all summons but one are temporary
you cant control them
they do meh damage, even fully maxed
investing in a summon skill means not investing in another potentially more useful skill for the character

Now, they can help too, mostly as distractions...and with high cooldown reduction, you can have quite a lot on the battlefield

Aeric is the most suited as a summoner with Ent + water elemental, both decent
^And if you give Aeric a lot of skill cooldown reduction focus, he can make more than one of each summon. I haven't unlocked water elemental yet, but I'm able to have two ents on the field. Plus, summoning those things can interrupt channeling enemies, since they come with a taunt.
Can confirm. My Aeric had 5 summons with him at once, in one battle, with the build I've created, and my party's only on the Third Floor of the Tower. Their dps also scales pretty high at those numbers.

I plan to try the Phantom Bow with Maeve later, and see if that counts as a party member, like Aeric's minions do.

Yeah, Aeric can maintain a lot of summons
By endgame, mine could have like 9-10 water elementals + 2-3 ents on the battlefield

As for phantom bow, i wasnt impressed...mostly because Maeve has much more other useful skills competing for slots

Noice. I don't know if I will ever escape from Wrath of the Righteous or BG3, but I will have to get sick of them both eventually. The question is if I am sick of them both at the same time. I do want to give this game a go.
