Come back with a level 7 party and stomp them into the ground.
The short version of it was I camped the bottom right corner with explosive fire arrows. Once they got near, just pop a rangeable wall. The dumdum death knights then try to walk all the way around, and once the wall is down, they are like just within max ranged, and then slowly mosey up to you again. Do wall when near again and repeat. Did need K to tank it like 3 seconds before wall was up again and that's always a butt clencher.. Also when they start wacking you over the wall.
I just did that fight in a similar way at level 4 with 3 characters on Epic difficulty.
The key is lots and lots of Traps from Maeve to immobilize them, combined with Kane dropping his wall. I stayed in the bottom left corner, keeping them running around that circular area from one wall to the next. With traps stopping them, the cooldown on the wall would be up by the time they circled around.
Main dps came from:
Explosive Fire Arrows + Hunter's Mark
Ice Cloud with Frostbite + Earth Fury
If possible I would place the wall so that just 1 would be on the inside and I would focus him down while the other's walked around.
Failed about 5 times before beating it and when I clicked 'ok' to get my loot, the game crashed!
Was not happy. Thankfully beat it right away on my next try and didn't crash that time!
I did save this fight for the last thing on this level before going down to level 2. Althought... missing 1 chest... so wandering around still.... argh!!!!!! ** found it **
if you are at the entrance fountain, go right, few steps into the hallway - there is a ladder that leads to the wooden construction - the chest is on top of it
Has something changed since then in this encounter ?
Bear trap does not stop them, at best it snares them and the death knights have a tendency to pass by them ... as if they knew.
Also, they know their way around the wall and are quite quick + they immobilize my characters. 4 Death knights is more than enough to stun lock 2 of my characters.
I can turn around the walls and such but 2 go in 1 way, 2 the other way so they easily encircle me and then stun lock, as described above.
I have the feeling that AI has changed as well as some other parameters making the techniques above obsolete.
Kane and Maeve are level 4, Aeric is level 3.
However, first answer is still right on spot.
@Panterich: yeah coming back later is an option, probably the one I will go for. I wanted to be sure I did not miss anything.
I forgot to mention the Ent dies so quick, like in 3 sec, even with the defense boost.
I did not find a more recent post with tips for this battle, nor a video.
On floor 2 there is for example an optional boss which requires you to significantly re-work your party or come later. If you manage to beat him as you progress - then it would be an excellent result. If not, its ok - we designed him that way.
