Tower of Time
Magic Penetration and Summons
I've been using the AoE water elementals with Aeric and trying to spam them around, and they do great when the enemies don't have a ton of water resistance, but I noticed they're doing 0 damage on enemies with 110% water resistance.

Now, this would normally be reasonable, but my Aeric has 60% magic penetration, and I have to imagine by any way of how this statistic would work that it should get their water resist under 100% so some damage is done. However, the summons don't seem to benefit from this. Now, many summons are pretty decent already so I get if this is intended, but maybe the caster's magic pen should transfer to the summon?

Before you commit to this, do remember that there are some other things that do not transfer, like reflect for example (so phantom bow shooting at air lancer does not hurt Maeve)

There is also Aericcs skill Earth Blessing that also affects summons and can give them magic penetration.

All in all i`d say it is fine as it is, you do have to pay attention to that, and utilise resistance weakening effects to do elemental damage,

Water elemetals are good against all enemies except of the ones with immunity against water.
Its perfect exact the way it is. Its not meant that you kill any enemie with any tool you have, if this was the intention, we dont need diffrent classes of damage or any diffrence in weapons .and skills ..
Yeah, I mean I beat the game on Hard so it's not like I really had trouble with it. But it also means lots of things have souped up resists, so plenty of fights where the summons do almost literally 0 damage. I'd actually say Water Elemental is pretty much the worst summon, Ent was way better (any summon with phys damage is way better) except it always died so I finally got tired of having to drop the heal totem on the ent every time I summoned it.

So basically I decided I'd rather have a summon that does almost no damage on a large portion of fights over a summon that dies instantaneously, since it was still better than anything else Aeric could do. At least Kaela's mecha army had the explody mode so their deaths did damage. Her mechs were also weird though in that her skill power did not affect their normal damage, unlike every other summon. Did affect the explosion though. Just kinda inconsistent-ish.

There are fights on epic where all enemies have all resistances of at least 100 except for water element. Thats just it, if you see high resistances to earth/water then you dump Aeric for someone else and vice versa. Even if it is the worst summon, it still has 80 water resistance and with shortened cooldown can manage keeping busy a few enemies with water damage. And i highly doubt any summon can do better in that particular situation. Does it happen often in game? Maybe not. But thats why you do have other champions and other summons. Aeric is not mandatory for party so his skills don`t have to be good for every fight.

All of that being said, i never meant water lord should not have some penetration. Mayde it should. Or maybe not.
