I would suggest the following:
1. Get either Explosive Arrow upgrade on Maeve or Blind Arrows
If you get Explosive Arrows, try to gather 2 or more enemies close by, so they all get hit
2. Give Kane Firesword and keep his Shield - he can take much more punishment
3. Use maps tactically - put Maeve in a place where she is protected from range enemies and keep Kane close - let him take all the damage
4. Use Kane's Dash only if you manage to hit 2 or more enemies, otherwise just keep his mana in reserve
5. Hit SPACE often - either to pause or slow time - and observe which enemies are targeting which champions. Early on its quite important to learn the flow of the combat - it will become natural later on. For Risen enemies, the most damaging spell is Fireball, if you see red circle on the ground just press SPACE and move your champion a little outside the area.
6. Don't rush to enemies, let them come to you - if you are standing behind the wall, they cannot do anything
If you have troubles with Dead Knights - check what armor penetration you have and use Fire Arrows on them.
The most important is positioning - maps are designed in such a way there there are few good defensive positions that protect your champions from few sides.
Stop by on Discord if you would like to talk some more about tactics.
after you can upgrade your characters and you find the elf dude, its a cakewalk
its those fights on level 1 just after the entrance when you only have your starting characters and no level up, in my opinion if 2 or 3 of the enemies were taken out of the fights, it would be more balanced
you just get overun with only 2 starting characters
when you enter level 1 you fight as far as you can till you hit 3 areas that have fights that your characters have a VERY! hard time winning. I died multiple times, did a respec on both characters along with skills...die,die,die
when I finally get past and get the blueprint to upgrade the 2 starter characters, the fights became almost to easy
and after the elf dude joined, we could walk through fights and not even take damage
Those guys feel out of place powerful, i had to decrease the difficulty to get throught them.
