duped uniqs and high resists
I have 2 questions.

1) What exactly happens when some elemental resistances becomes higher than 80? Is it working as tooltip says and you get some reduction of debufs? If so, does it somehow depend on which elemental resistance is over 80, or do they need to be equal to be equaly effective against different debufs?

2) I currently have in my inventory 2 golden energy pistols, 2 mana gloves and 2 refraction armors. While i can`t complain about refraction armors, being imo The Best items considering they are T1 (pretty sure those stats are messed up) and also being both needed at the time you find them, i don`t see any reason at all for double gloves, and pistols also seem excessive. As i remember, second pistol was added in one of the latest patches, so maybe that was a mistake? Or those are random?

Hello Panterich,

So hard cap is 80%, but if your actual resistances are higher, lets say 110% - this extra 30% decreases enemy elemental resistance debuffs and magic penetration.

So in this example

Actual resistance 110%
Hard Cap 80%

Enemy magic penetration 20% ---
Actual resistance 90%
Hard Car 80%

or

Elemental Weakness 40% ---
Actual resistance 70%

Regarding items - yes, in one of the patches we moved some of the items from laying on the grounds to combat rewards (so we could scale them for different difficulty). It could be the case that item ids got mixed up - we did not want to remove all exisiting unique items in case we make a mistake in some particular case, so those three items could be duplicated.

Oh, now i get it, You may want to replace word 'debuffs' with 'resistance debuffs' in a tooltip, or maybe say 'elemental weakness bebuffs' instead of 'enemy debuffs'. I think in both cases i would not had that question. Lol, even if there was nothing except 'actual resistance xxx' it would be more understandable ;p
Thanks for clarification.

I don`t think you are correct with items though, All of them are from the ground and are not scaled. With pistols, one of them is next to prison in another portal on Lv7 (where a vortex blade was before patch, which is now a reward for lazy wisp) and second one is right before war leader battle on Lv8 (as it also was before patch). Both mana gloves and refraction armors were present in doubles before 2 last patches, when i started playing. My concern is that something else should have been there instead of them, and is unattainable as a result, so you may want to check that.

This a bit off topic but since it's about resistances, does magic penetrate work on void resistance? Kaela used mainly void damage and while there're only few enemies in the game with void resistance, when those do come up they usually have 100% resistance, meaning Kaela deals 0 damage. Now she had 27% magic penetrate so yeah it's only a little but it should redure the 100% resistance so at least some small damage is being dealt. However Kaela always did 0 damage, indicating that magic penetration doens't work on void resistance. I get it's a special element and therefore could be immune to the magic penetrate and that's completely fine but, when I hover my mouse over my characters resistances, including void resistance the tooltip says:
"Reduces damage from void-based skills and weapons. Considered as true damage until resistance is discovered. Countered by Magic Penetration. hard cap 80%."
-- so is there incorrect information on the tooltip or is there a bug and magic penetrate should work against void resist? or does the magic penetrate only work against players void resistance but not against monsters?

Its not hard to check - there is a dummy with 100% void resistance, andto answer your question - no, it doesn`t work, so 0 dmg.
However, i was sure i did check it earlier and it was working.. either it was changed or my memory is failing me, which is definitely not good news.

Yeah testing was never the issue as I tested/experienced it during gameplay. I want to know if it's working as intended and if so, the tooltip on void resistance should be changed, since it claims magic penetration reduces void resistance.

Yes, it should and will be changed, thanks for noticing that. Nothing works for or against void resistance. There are only few items late-game that offer protection against it.

By the way - thanks for a very nice roundup of the characters Mashusu - that was the most excellent read.
