Tower of Time
Full list of the effects of Ancient/Dusty Scrolls *spoilers*
Here's a list I've compiled of most of the Ancient/Dusty scrolls in the game and their effects. You can consult this list to see if you want to read the scroll or not and who to have read it. Note that reloading the game re-randomizes the scroll so you can "savescum" them if you want. There's a few that I'm missing so if anyone wants to help me fill in the blanks, feel free. SPOILERS FOLLOW so don't read if you want to maintain the mystery of it all.

Oh no... Luckily you missed quite a few of them :)

On a serious note - how do you like this particular novelty - that you should guess the effect of the scroll and also whether it is positive or negative?

I'm not a big fan personally. I was pretty unclear how they worked. I thought either the person you used them on changed the effect or that it was completely random so I ended being a bad person and just save scumming it until i got a bonus that was decent.

No offense dude, but your lack of clarity is due to your own misinterpretation and is not a fault with the system. The message explaining the mechanic makes it very clear that whether the scroll is a bonus or malus is dependent on the tone of the lore excerpt and what it affects is overtly referenced in there as well.

That being said, for me personally the temptation to savescum the scroll is too strong so I would suggest removing that ability.

even if u guess if its negative. someone still has to use it no? i tried not using the one scroll cause i had a bad feeling, but couldent say no, and sure enough lol

You just click the leave button and then no one uses it. It vanishes. The color of the vanishing will even tell you if the scroll was a bonus or malus (which I think is a cool touch).

No need to be combative. Though, I agree that the effects of the scrolls can be too good if save scumming is used. In concept they are interesting, but the current iteration isn't balanced.
