I bought Tower of Time for 5€ on sale, thinking "great, another CRPG for the collection". When I started playing it a couple of months later, I realized that wasn't the case.
Tower of Time is actually a hybrid between several game genres. It's a dungeon-crawling, strategic RPG with elements of Tower Defense games. The story is mediocre at best, the point of it being that you have to reach the last level of the Tower of Time in order to save the world (yawn). The Tower has 10 levels and is filled with all kinds of monsters, loot and secrets. You start by controlling 2 characters, but more will join you eventually, leading to a party of up to four characters. Each character is of a different class, featuring different skill sets and available gear. There is also a backstory to each of your NPCs, but it's half-baked and not really worth mentioning. You can upgrade your characters for gold outside of the Tower. Each of them has many different skills, but can only have 4 equipped at one time, giving the player an option to experiment with different combinations and playstyles.
I found Tower of Time very interesting at first, but it became increasingly repetitive as I played on. The combat in this game is pretty unique and resembles Tower Defense games. When engaging in a battle, your characters will have to fend off waves of enemies that are spawning in specific points on the map - just like in Tower Defense games. The combat is real-time with pause and it involves a lot of clicking and micro-management. Along with the rest of the game, it's pretty fun at first, but gets annoying and repetitive around the third level of the Tower (there are 10 levels in total).

Tower of Time can be a breath of fresh air for some players, as it offers a unique blend between several game genres. Sadly, the game doesn't have a good enough story to remain interesting for long. If you like what you see on the screenshots and enjoy a good dungeon crawler, you probably won't regret buying it on sale.

I RARELY leave comments on store pages of games, so rare in fact its almost unheard of. (Mostly due to my horrid spelling, punctuation and grammar abilities.).

At any rate I wanted to drop by on this one, as I feel it is getting a unfair shakedown. I baught this game as I was looking for RTC similar to bauldurs gate, and it was on sale.

I did go through most of the comments to see what everyone was saying about it, as I do not like wasting moneys on games that end up being trash. THIS ONE IS FAR FAR FAR FROM TRASH, granted it is not at all by any means PERFECT either, but it is NOT at all trash, infact I noticed they recently came out with a sequel/second game that is similar to the storyline on this one, and i am actually thinking of buying it even at full price.

This game though one can tell definatly was influenced by games like diablo, while at the sametime IT LITTERALLY DOES ITS OWN THING, there are things that seem familiar, yet different and unique. The storyline thus far is solid, the graphics are very well done, beutiful in they own right, contrary to what some of these other people (who honestly should just stick to minecraft) are saying. The devs definatly gave us something new, and fresh yet staying true and traditional to the genre.

Give this game a shot, especially if you get it on sale, you might just be supprised.

p.s. I do agree after floor 2 and 3 even on Veteran combat feels a bit repetitive, how 3ever the story 100% makes up for it.

What an amazing game. The story is incredible, battles are very difficult and challenging (if you play on the last difficulty), the characters are also well made with unique personalities.

Lots of skills and combinations for you to make your build.

The only issue is the text, that's way too small. I have a 21' monitor and I have to use the Magnifier from windows in order to read, otherwise I'd be forcing my vision (no way to fix it, said by the devs). But you are still able to read without.

No bugs found.

I would give it 8/10 (would be 10/10 with a bigger font size)
