Reset Slots in Control Panel
One of my friends encountered a rather annoying issue (something I've seen in the Editor and I try to minimize problems when releasing which are problems in the model) when he was trying to reset the slot back to default. I ended up having to let him know to delete some files in the application directory so he could use it again.

It'd be nice if we had a way to reset a specific slot not in the overlay UI (this was flung off screen so he had no way to get it back) but rather in the Control Panel itself for stuff like this when people don't edit a model properly and just hastily upload something.

You can click the small green indicator under each slot icon to unload the model in Control Panel

But I believe this still retains the settings of whatever was loaded into that slot and he's wanting to reset them to default. I believe simply unloading the model doesn't really solve the underlying problem he had.

Reset what? Size and position?

I believe he just wants to reset a specific slot back to default as if you were using a slot you've never used. Like, I only use 1 and 2 myself and 3 for testing new models. I've not touched 4 and 5 so their values are still at default. What he'd like is to be able to reset the slot back to those default values and get the edit overlay UI back since it went off screen with no way to actually get it back.

I still can not understand your meaning, what's the default values of a slot? Edit Panel position? Model Position?
Program will detect the position of edit panel to prevent it from going out of screen, So I think you can always see the panel in the screen.
If you can't move the panel, you can use Ctrl + left mouse button to move the model to the center of screen, then open the edit panel, it will move to the center of the model.

He's not able to reproduce it at the moment, but he told me he'll document things in the event it happens again. (or I may do something on my end to see if we can get it together in the near future)
