UEBS: The once-great game.
What UEBS was:

UEBS was a great game, especially as it was made by one person. It was a pretty darn good unit simulator, able to handle 10x more units than TABS, its competitor. It had less units, more maps, was released, and had Steam Workshop support, although only for units.

What UEBS is now:

UEBS now is a side project, only here to make money, few units, enough maps but with a fair few glitches (I will talk about the 2 new maps later in the discussion). For 7 of the 12 months that UEBS has existed, the guy making UEBS has been for focused on making a different game, The Black Masses.

The 2 New Maps:

I will start with Atlantis, since its quicker. The camera in Atlantis is broken, allowing you to fly through buildings, the hitboxes are trash, allowing quite solid towers and walls to be simply ignored, while gaps large enough for a human are very resistant to all movement. The river sucks, and running into the wall of said river with your camera shoots you upwards. The three choke points, while SOMEWHAT fun, are very boring. I mean, you only ever use 1 bridge unless you personally go through and take men along the other bridge to flank the enemy.

Next I will pick apart War Torn. Firstly, the wall is the only good part about the map, and it is poorly made, along with physicly and historicly inaccurate. I dont care what age that wall was made in, you DONT have random gaps in it and several parts poking out of the same place, and you dont normally even have parts like you do in the map! Out in the plains, there is a small town with its own wall. It has 3 houses, a church, a tower with no entrance, a random block attached to said tower, and a random block attacked to the wall itself. Neither block has an entrance. When approaching the tower block in camera mode (make sure not to go straight through it, as that is a glitch in this map too) and you see a strange effect, making it look like a portal to the underworld. Speaking of the underworld, demonic red smoke accompanied by random ruins is spread around the map. Thats not all thats bad, but I have another section to write.

The Future of UEBS:

There are two possibilities here. The first is that these bad maps, lack of content and lack of community features could be fixed once the new game comes out. This is the optimistic outlook, the one I believed before I saw the new "feature" that is groups and the two maps. If this is true, then UEBS will still be in the fight for popularity and will hopefully see a resurgence of players, although somewhat drained by the new game.

The other possibility is that UEBS will remain a side-project, made soely to produce funds for the next big thing. This path would see few updates (if any), many bugs, old and new, again if there are updates, and a very small community who dreams about the first path. The game may actually become unsupportable/insignificant enough to not support. TABS would be the main battle simulator, which wouldnt be good. I mean, TABS is nice but UEBS gives you bigger maps, more units on one battlefield and less sillyness. This is the path I believe in, and I'm an optimist.

Summary- TL;DR:

UEBS is a once-great game thrown out the window, with the chance to become great again or the chance to fade into obscurity, leaving Brilliant Game Studios, the one-man dev, without the great game that was UEBS under his belt, instead looked at as the man who ditches games and communities. He may go bankrupt, or his new game may be a hit. Only time will tell.

What do you think? I would love to know your oppinions. NO FLAME WAR!

Way she goes sometimes. I do agree they need to keep adding content though. Not sure how big the Dev are for 2 games.

The develpoment "team" consists of a singular person, which I do think severely limits their ability to add stuff to the game, but they should still take the time to make the updates good. So yeah, it is the way it goes sometimes, but it should still be avoided, if possible.

I agree with you, we can only hope the last 2 maps (Atlantis mainly) are hotfixed.
It is a bit poor how we have to find out and memorise decent Ai paths and spawn points, but having said that once you have learnt it all, the game is still epic, just requires figuring out, which I agree shouldn't be the case
Thanks

If we can just fix the suicide Ai and have more unit types (not just groups) per side, and more modern melee humanoid units as there is very few, would be a great improvement.
I'm still baffled as to why we have to rally and March a defending unit all the way to firing distance just to say "attack the other team", why not just a "rally" then "attack" option.
But I've said it so many times lol
So many times im left with defending units either side of map and it's the only way to get them to attack and finish battle

I agree, and maybe they could even add a path-layer ability while you fly around, like lay a path for them to follow

It was never a great game. It just used to have potential.
