Laboratory

Well, I seem to be stuck. I got into the Laboratory, defeated Franky, and... that's it. The Laboratory is a dead end, I can't find any items for progressing further in it, and it feels like I've already gone over the remainder of the castle three times in my search for the Laboratory Key. What am I supposed to do?

I think you solved it (?) by now but after the spider area you need to first defeat the huge spiders with its many offsprings and then find an exit underwater.

Nope, haven't solved it. In fact, apart from dealing with real life matters, I've spent the 19 days since making the above post solely on painstakingly mapping out the entire game, hoping to find some passage that I've missed. So far I've completely mapped out six areas and mostly mapped out the other two I've had access to.

I defeated the huge spiders well before even finding the laboratory, but no exit underwater has appeared yet. I'll just have to continue pushing the action button on every spot that looks like it stands the least chance of containing a trigger, whilst crossing my fingers that I haven't run into a game-breaking glitch.

I did figure it out. The trick is finding the exit underwater; it's not marked in any way and nothing in the story indicates that you should head underwater at all. Just keep using the action button on the water near where you defeated the huge spider, and eventually you'll hit the spot which triggers a cutscene.

Hey dev- this is utterly CRAP DESIGN- I get you wanna sell your walkthroughs- but crap like this was tired and boring and crap design in the 90s. It is utterly criminal now. Stop trying to FORCE us to get so frustrated we feel FORCED to buy the guide or ragequit.

Seriously- this is just to sell the guides. And if this is how you force the issue- in every game, SHAME ON YOU. This is just crappy game design if it is unintentional- and flat up scammy if intentional.
