Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic

Cosmos vs specialized sphere?
Cosmos vs specialized sphere?
I am confused about the use of specialized sphere's.
Picking cosmos and putting four sphere into a single magic typ has the same effect as far i can tell.
Execpt that in cosmos i would still have two sphere left for something else while being specialized is basicly one magic type only.

So what is the use of going specialized.
Roleplaying reasons excluded.

higher level in a certain path means more powerful spells. You won't be able to cast the higher tier spells.

yeah, never choose cosmos unless you have special reason why. Most overpowered spell is the mastery spells (Fire Mastery, Life Mastery, etc) which takes control over all mana nodes in the map. Once the spell goes live, even if enemy takes back those mana nodes, you still maintain the magic radius around it, if other world spells (such as damnation) are used together, it pretty much is "game over".
