Spells based on number of magic spheres?

I remember way back in the day actually buying this game on CD it came with a guide that explained how many spells you would get of each level based on how many spheres you selected. Such as if you picked 2 spheres of Earth you would get all of the level 2 Earth spells and like 2-3 of the level 3 spells.

Or at least I think it was something like that. Such as if you went 3 spheres in fire and 3 in earth you still had a small chance of getting the level 4 summon spell for both. I do know for sure that if you take 4 spheres you get all the spells aside from the mastery spell.

Anyone know the actual breakdown?
