First job is to get the city to the South of where you begin
and get your mage installed there
Then produce housing to accelerate the growth to a city
while your units explore the local area and the area to the west
dont go south until you have established yourself
Get the ship and explore along the river
There is a city there that is friendly
so get that too asap
it can also be reached by a mountain pass
The first mission is quite easy really
Take the city immediately south and begin to develop your economy
Don't go further south until you have high tier units
Also maybe you need to do some research/reading on battle tactics
The game is excellent
I have easily completed the first mission many times
You just need to learn the game
Don't expect to be able to just click and blunder your way through
You will have think and learn the strategies and tactics required to play successfully
Kids who dont have the patience will ♥♥♥♥♥ about the ai etc
But just go to any forum for any game and you know what you will find
people who will blame the games for their own incompetence
Research to get yourself more casting points and blazing comet, fireball and cosmic spray. Build your wizards towers up so you can cast further away. Constructor, Survivalist and Merchant are very good skills to learn early too.
Get ballista. 8 ballista with walls, a Tower Gaurd and some decent damage magic with a lot of casting points can take out HUGE armies attacking your cities. Even with flyers. Aim for AI hero first (once his hero is dead there isnt another one). That way no magic can be cast from enemy wizard unless it falls under his tower influence. But phase 1 early game he should only have blazing comet to attack with and his influence will not reach that far. He will almost always throw Skin of Oil first. Focus all ballista on Prowlers and Manticores after Hero if present. Mainly he attacks with a bunch of Hunters, Shredders and Fire Cats. Be patient with cosmic spray/fireball and wait until the enemy are massed near the gates.
AI is very stupid, once a gate is open almost every enemy unit will run to that open gate regardless if they can get in or not. Even with Prowlers who can climb walls will stand on the wall attacking your units, while AI that can't climb walls will run behind thinkng it is a way in. Fools. You can have units running back and forth on the corner of your keep sometimes because the gates are being clogged and then open and clogged again. Meanwhile you are plucking them away and roasting them with fireball or cosmic spray.
The battle is always different. If you start and your Ballista miss or hit for poop on round 1. reload and try again until you get a better start. Though load/reload beyond round 1 is rather pointless, since you may have an awesome round 1 but round two sucks and a Ballista dies you reload and it takes you twenty minutes reloading trying to get a decent round 1 again.
An army of your hero and 7 knights is quite devasting. Summon 8 Efreets to tag along too. Save before hero levels up and giving your Hero new attributes. Again load/reload and you will get different results.
Once you got the four cities nearest to you. Put a lot of troops in the castle south of yours. that will become the main city to be attacked. Eventually you will stop his flood of troops and can progress further south.
Take the city next to his main city. If you have decent army he will be too scared to move and will just sit there doing nothing but building troops. Just sit and wait with him until you have learned every spell/skill, have gone everywhere, examined every ruin and Hero is at max level 7. Unless this one doesnt have a max level then go up to level 30 which is the highest level and I doubt can happen in phase 1. He may attempt to move an army to attack your upper cities but by that time you can either defend yourself or just elminate them as they leave.
You should try and get every spell/skill, go/do everyting and level max with every Element Phase 1 and 2. Special phase who cares except for getting to level 30. Once your Heros reach level 15 they can start to handle themselves a lot better and can run around killing independents just by themself. In their 20s absoultely they are power house and can start to take on bigger armies and possibly citites just by themself.
SOrry for so ong but good luck
Also there are destroyed cities in the north west where you start which can be restored by sending a pioneer. They will massively boost your economy.
You can specialise them for income or mana or combat units etc
But no I am just the bad player that mister Siddha talks about, it is not like the reason the third game got massive hate was exactly the same reason of the older games, lack of strategy, high tier spam, ranged being overpowered and the worst cheating AI in history of gaming.
Know what, shove this nostalgic crap your ass, this game is mediocre at best and if in 10 years Triumph couldn't make a decent fun game it shows that they should go out of business pronto.
But uh uh, here comes the "git gud scrub" BS again, just waiting for the loyal fanboy to defend another waste of time and money.
Maybe english is not your first language; but none of that made any sense to me.
Just a lot ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and whining and childish insults
You didn't like the game; so what; get over it; lots of people do
Yes I do support Triumph and Age of Wonders
Great games
