How does the idle train work?

I've been offline twice for a couple of hours and only got distance traveled.
No cash, no passengers.

the money goes to your vault and whatever it is it's max is what you get, sometimes cash doesn't work but I think it maybe a bug. just exit the game after you leave a sation, it's what I do

also make sure
AUTO depart is ON, (the defalt is OFF) switch it in the options menu

Auto depart does not have to be on. That is only for when the game is open. If the game is closed, the train will only stop if there is a waypoint set or there is an obstruction. If the game is open, the train will stop at all stations unless auto-depart is on. If you are still not getting money, there is some other bug involved.

This is how I make sure it works, before closing the game,

I make sure autodepart is on in options.

Then make sure that I do not have a waypoint set. If I do have a waypoint set in the map, I set the waypoint to the next city, sit and wait for the train to get to that next waypoint. Once the train reaches that city you will notice it will automatically put a new green dot on the map for where it is going next.

Once that is set, you are good to go... close the game and profit!

Also it doesnt help that everything in the report goes to 0 when the caboose is full of gold xD
