New Game+ in Death of the Outsider seems very lackluster?
I recently finished Death of the Outsider and wanted to try the NG+ since i liked the one in Dishonored 2.
But, unless i am mistaken, it seems rather lame compared to Dishonored 2 NG+:

1. Lacking the entire "runes upgrade skills" mechanic means that for stuff i always like to have (like agility and sword blocks bullets) i have to hope i randomly find/buy those black bone charms early in the game?
This feels incredibly bad since my characters flavor and development is completely dictated by random spawning/selling of black bone charms instead of my actual choices...

2. Bone charm crafting is only available once i (again) obtain the special dagger in one of the last missions?
The minor bone charms are already useless compared to the powerful black bone charms, but if i can't craft bone charms until one of the last missions then that is really awful.
I can't even see much of a reason to craft even the powerful +4 trait bonecharms when even they are really weak compared to black bone charms (that can't be "learned" for bonecharm crafting).

3. The powers (abilities) billie has are kinda underwhelming, and the 3 "new" abilities you get from dishonored 2 are even less awesome.
For some reason they give you Blink and the special Sight, which is something you kinda already have (especially if you find/buy the black bonecharm for instant blink).
The domino bonds spell is useful but one of the least interesting ones compared to dishonored 1 and 2 abilities.

4. Any bone charm that is not black (or corrupted) feels kinda useless.
This is a problem in the regular DotOutsider play-through as well.
The regular bonecharms are so weak compared to black and corrupted ones that i can never justify using them.
Actually the only charms i ever bother even collecting are the black and corrupted ones.
Even the craftable 4trait bonecharms pale in comparison to the powerful corrupted and black bonecharms.

I liked the new "mana" mechanic in DotOutsider since it fully regenerates and allows free usage of the (pitiful) spells billie has.
But so far the NG+ in DotOutsider seems very lame and boring compared to the fun i had in Dishonored 2.

It's a bit limited by the lack of upgrading possible, but I liked the challenges of OG+ because while you know how the powers are used in D2, they may be of slightly different function here. Certainly since the game was for the most part designed around Billie's specific new powers it's a little stilted toward using those instead.

This is why random bone charms makes no sense, this type of deus ex/system shock 2 rpg revolves around ground hogs day item placements for a reason yet arkane keeps doing this with key stat affecting items. Chipsets do this as well in prey and it makes no sense. If there were ever a flaw with these games designs that I thought would've been fixed it's randomized stat boosting items. These could otherwise be placed as specific points to keep up with a difficulty curve but they just don't.

It's much worse in prey but in this one since key things like jumping higher are tied to bone charms where you'd otherwise be guaranteed that movement it's a real big problem of the design. I never imagined that would carry past dishonored 1 but it's still here for some reason.

In general RNG just serves as a lazy crutch where an otherwise interesting mechanic could be used instead.

i can agree that it would have make more snece let the play discover on next trial the game with all powers and bonecharms to give them free choice :)

Major disappointment to say the least. By description, it sounded like it was going to give me ALL the powers from D2.. Why in the F*** limit it to 3 powers.. There's no excuse or reasoning for that, it's bad enough that they gave us a major gimp protagonist compared to the first two games, but then they gyp us on the reward for completing this relatively dragged out and underwhelming sequel..

I really hope they come out with a D4, but only if they don't pull this crap again.. I don't want to see a D4 in which they further butcher the franchise..

I mean, really, this entire game, should have been an add-on DLC for D2, Just the bank level, since that's basically half the game anyways, maybe the last level as well, but the rest was just pointless, even the whole story with Daud, since I killed him, burned him, and had rats devour his corpse in the first game.

Agreed, and the 3 powers they give you from D2 when playing NG+ are even less useful than the original powers for DOTO.... and you don't even get a choice on whether to take them or not--you're STUCK with them. What a lame POS.

I think this game started out to be a DLC and somewhere down the line they got greedy and decided to sell it as its own game.

oh it definitely was i wanna say they even said that at one point. the real reason to sell it standalone though is so its not locked behind a paywall of dishonored 2 which makes sense if its completely standalone content then if someone swapped consoles or swapped to pc or sold their copy of dishonored 2 they would be able to buy it standalone regardless. Thats how any standalone expansion dlc should be.

I legitimately miss having Displace, Foresight, and Semblence. Billie does have far fewer powers compared to previous protagonists but all three of those powers are useful in their own ways.

I kinda wish that you could either have access to the entire roster from Dishonored 2 OR the ability to swap out the three that you have with any from the previous game. Though, maybe also letting you keep Displace so you can have some way of accessing high ledges and hiding spots without relying on finding the Acrobatic bonecharm.

Granted, I like Blink and Domino but I don't really care for Dark Sight. Foresight was a far superior option for scouting things out in an area.

Added: Forgot to mention that the game's Bonecharns still have ones that affect Billie's base set of powers. Making it where there's few less useful Bonecharms to choose from in Original Game+.

Honestly wish there was a standard NG+, since I wanna ♥♥♥♥ around with Void Strike more.
OG+ is honestly the most underwhelming thing ever.
