lol is it Mark.
Your theory would be fine if we actually would know letters, but on the audiolog it sounded like him doing fart noises, because he couldn't pronounce them.
I really hope that there's a DotO art book, because I want that lettering. Hell I want that lettering as a font RIGHT NOW.
There is script on the Overseers sword hilts, that matches the Knife. (which, you can see clearly when it's in the display case. - and also see that it is literally the same hilt as the Abbey's.) Some of it is blocky geometric stuff, but right near the blade is a curved symbol that looks like it should fit right in on the alphabet.
Billie comments to herself in her journal "why does it have two blades? nothing gets stuck in between them, this void stuff is all weird". The cultists *cut out his name*, nothing sticks in that knife. He couldn't speak his own name, but he was dead, so he knew how to read it... I dunno :)
I half wonder whether that knife has been in use for several of the Void's avatars, and they've just kept adding to the script in whatever language the people doing the sacrificing use.
