It's that bugged ?
Steam make some updates since they put this game on it. I know it's a remastered version of the remastered DS version for the original SNES game. DS add some content too if i'm not wrong.
What kind of bug do you run to ?
The Steam version is mostly fine. Until I moved a file, I couldnt start it. Otherwise seems stable.
Dont' worry about that ! ^^
Yes, but it's still not a evidence to be a good port even with the patch.
There's evidence that the game is practically a DS port with the last patches.
I haven't any problem since then. Yes, the dream devourer there, so if you can't efford the DS version, now's the time to get this
I can afford the DS version, but i must find the cartridge. I cant' afford the SNES version.
SNES version: do I really need to analise it? If you're CT fan, I'm sure you had a SNES experience at first. I've played it 6 times, one after another... 8 months. What a game!
PS1 version: New and great (no dialogue) video animations of key moments in the game definitely gives a great time, but it won't worth due to huge loading times, specially on each announced battle, something really boring. Basically it's the same structure from SNES with videos. Coudn't play it with so much loading.
DS version: It has the best of two worlds and even more. We can see the animations in a pretty much SNES gaming experience. We can play it without that touching pen, we can see a map in the second screen and dialogues won't affect screen like in SNES they used to. Menu had some structural changes without losing anything. Some sound effects like Magu's Darkmatter changed a bit and, although I miss them, I think it's okay as 5% sacrified gave us the best por we had so far. Two new ark stories were added, as some equipment you can only get there. I liked some new stuff, but there's actually no need to play it at all. The one you walk between Pre-Historic time and Dark Ages can be really boring due to perform to literally walk on the same place like dozen times. Also, it doesn't affect the main story, as expected. Graphics had some upscaling, which was necessary and welcomed! I've played it just once and I was happy I did. Bought the DS just to spend this quality time.
Android and PC: I didn't play it, as I saw much difference. Graphics had some upscaling, dialogues were structurally changed, as I could see in the menu. Seemed a lot of what makes CT singular were taken and I kinda didn't like it. PC collector's material didn't see this great for me. As a collector, I bought them, but I didn't play them and I confess I have no intention to.
Once I had american and japanese SNES versions with box, manual, maps (american version), american and japanese PS1 versions with box and manuals, DS american version with box and manuals of Chrono Trigger, as well american and japanese PS1 versions of Chrono Cross.
Currently I have Chrono Trigger on PC, Android and CT and CC on PS3/PSVita (PSOne Classics).
I'm still considering to buy a DS once again and get a CT and keep it to play again in idk... 5 or 10 years from now...
Since you played and enjoyed the original SNES version, what are your thoughts on the new translation of the DS version?
Took me almost two years to notice your question... Jesus! So sorry!
I really miss some quotes, specially Crono's mom taking you off the bed while hearing Leene's bells as the game starts. Once I've read DS dialogues are the proper translation from japanese version, while other previously versions censored some (very low) sexual content jokes. I like the SNES original dialogues and what should be the original at DS. Just miss some quotes as I played it 6 times...
BTW I made my mind and last year got a sealed DS CT limited (the one with a map) and also played the whole game again. Have to say that boring same steps on one of the new arcs wasn't that bad this time. =)
