The best version of Chrono Trigger is the SNES version. I'd try to play that. The NDS version has a lot of downgrades to it by comparison. And I think the SNES translation is a lot better than the NDS / mobile / PC version's translation, too.
This is wrong. They fixed A LOT. I just finished a play through with 0 issue.
They fixed a lot... and it's still not properly fixed. There are still plenty of issues.
If you play with an Xbox controller. If you play with a PS controller, the buttons will be mislabelled. Also, no way to remap buttons, I think.
I bought a 3rd party controller. 99% of the game is fine but there's parts like the magic tent and the computer sound codes where you need to consult Google or YouTube.
The changes to the menus and UIs are also quite pleasing. The item lists are much more organized and the item descriptions are easier to read and understand. Having a bookmark and file save feature separate from each other is very useful too. Helps with hunting endings and backtracking easily in the same NG+ file.
The only problem is the pixel wrap at the top of the screen. And it looks like the only thing missing apart from the arena is the "time to rest" theme from the Dream's Epilogue credits, but maybe it requires all endings be unlocked. Not sure though.
I highly recommend this port if not scouring for a Retron console and a veritable collector's piece of a cartridge.
It's all based off the DS version, which people regularly say is the best (I don't agree with that though). The translations and name changes was all the DS version, steam is just using a variation of that version.
DS version was better than this thing.
DS version is better, yes (barely, it adds grindy end game cash grab dungeons and a cheat arena), but the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ translation began with the DS version and steam and mobile version have it as well.
lol what? It's LITERALLY the PC versions problem
It's such an easy quality of life thing to put in any game. Square enix does it in other games they make for PC, even, so why the hell would they not do it here? Just pure laziness.
