OK...Golem Sisters Fight
Does it just amount to my level or is there a trick to this boss battle?

Keep swapping between elemental magics and they will practically be locked down. Every time you do a spell they reset their turn but it has to be a new element that you didn't hit them with in the previous turn. They may still be able to get a few hits in but it shouldn't be too difficult if you follow that pattern. This also applies to the single Golem in Zeal's throne room. It can be won as well but the same thing happens whether you win or lose except for one or 2 dialogue changes

OK, so for example hit them with lighting, then water, then lighting, then water, etc?

Yeah, pretty much; thing is they will counter depending on the element they've been hit with, if you keep rotating your magic attacks they'll have a harder time countering you

Also avoid using physical attacks; that makes them use the iron ball that cuts your HP in half, leaving you vulnerable to their other attacks

A semi cheap strategy you can try if you still have problems is to make your party wear Ruby Vest (from prehistoric age) and only use fire attacks; the vest will make the fire counters from the bosses hit 50%, just keep going till you beat them, you can do this too at the single golem at Zeal's palace before getting captured by Dalton

Awesome, thank you.

So, in one of my battles with them, my team died before I could make one move. (In fact, I'd be lucky to hit them twice, if I even manage to hit them once.) Apparently, if your teammate dies before executing a team tech move, you practically lose that turn to attack.

You can get different types of plate armour that absorb elemental type damage. So Blue Plate will absorb all water/ice damage. I highly recommend not trying this fight without the plate armour.

To get these plates you can use this guide here: https://strategywiki.org/wiki/Chrono_Trigger/Sealed_chests

The trick with the Golem Sisters is that when you hit them with an elemental attack (like Ice II), they will copy that type and hit back with it.

What I did was have Crono/Frog/Marle in a team. Equip Crono with the Blue Plate, Marle with the Blue Vest and Frog with Black Plate. At the start of the fight the Golems get in with the Iron Sphere that halves HP, I then hit them with the triple attacl Frost Arc and that takes 2000hp off a Golem. When the Golems counter attack with an ice elemental it heals Chrono and Marle, so you only have to heal up frog.

What i did was hit them with ice sword II combo-tech and then immediately follow-up with a fire II.
They were simply unable to use anything other than fire on me.
And even fire never hurt Lucca for even 100.

I havent really grinded until the ocean palace; I warmly recommend giving chrono "Swallow" and Frog Masamune + Hero Medal on the rock of woe. Together with Robo, they took out ALL rubbles with only reloading twice.
On the black bird, however, I accidentally did Lucca + Marle + Robo and could take out only 2 of all those laser defenses on the left wing. Quite a difference, no? And that was even with me spending all my speed tabs but 1 on Marle and Lucca.
(The other 1 went to Chrono, so Chrono got a maxed out speed stat with "Swallow")

It’s questionable to choose the Swallow over the Guardian Helm though, as you’ll get swords that outclass the Swallow pretty quickly. The only other way to get Guardian Helms is to charm the shells of Lavos spawn, which is likely something you’d want to avoid if you could.

true, but until then it served me well. Also, I plan to go for prismatic helmets.
Still, I guess I should've mentioned that.
Plus, there's another way to get to max speed on Chrono...

They are also susceptible to the double tech Boogie, so you can use that if you want.

Lucca's Hypnowave works on them. Put them to sleep and work on them one at a time.
RunningWild Jun 8, 2020 @ 11:02pm
Be careful with Lucca's Hypnowave though, if it fails, it counts as a Physical skill, so the Golem's will retaliate with their physical nuke.
