controller keeps moving in different directions?

Sometimes my controller will just have my character move in directions I didn't ask it to, does anyone else have this problem?

Yeah, it's because the game has a deadzone of zero for the analog sticks. That means that the slightest input will trigger a movement, and if the sticks are not perfectly centered, the character, pointer etc will move on it's own sometimes.

Yeah it's unbearable it's a little better with the D-pad but in battle I couldn't even heal because the cursor was going all over the damn place please Square fix this!

Use steam big picture mode, settings, controller settings, make sure xbox configuration support is ticked.
Navigate to Chrono trigger in steam big picture mode, go to manage game, controller configuration.
You can set a deadzone for the Left stick, under the left stick settings go to additional settings, I moved the slider for dead zone inner about a quarter and it seems pretty comfortable to me there.
