CHRONO TRIGGER

CHRONO TRIGGER

lets discuss the game`s original time line(likely to be spoilers)
based on what is revealed, crono never visited antiquity in the original time line. the masamune also was not restored so magus summoned lavos and died trying to destroy it. crono never met ayla so the party for crono was never held. the laruba village was likely never found because ayla never got the attention of the reptites and lavos crashed in tyranno lair without anybody invading it. the humans in the future died out because of no interfarance(please correct me if i spelled it incorrectly). crono and nadia still got kids however but crono was never put on trial because hwe never traveled to the middle ages and fought yakra(yakra`s decendant had replaced the chancelor when he got back).

It is interesting to think about, there are quite a few details in the original timeline that do leave questions. For instance, why did Lavos not destroy the world when Magus woken it up early? And why did Lavos's destruction in 1999AD kill the world and doom humanity when it didn't in 12000BC?
Why was Melchior present when Lavos awoke beneath the Ocean Palace after rebelling against the queen and being imprisoned within Mt. Woe?
Why did the Ocean Palace not transform into the Black Omen, and what became of Schala and Queen Zeal?
And another thing, how did the events during and after the Millenial Fair play out?

Well one thing about when lavos lands in 12000BC. It didn't destroy the planet because it couldn't at that point, it bored its way into the earth to build up power and feed off of the planet no? Which would be why Magus was trying to summon it early, so it wouldn't be as strong. Instead he fails and lavos emerges in 1999 killing the world.
what is shown of the original time line in antiquity is that the gurus was present when lavos appeared. gates then opened and and sucked them in. when lavos was summoned in the new time line, melchior was sucked into a gate but that was only mentioned in dialogue and not seen directly(the reason he was present was that the time line where he was sucked into a gate had not yet happened). it likely happened to the others and janus as well. back on topic: in the original timeline, crono never travelled to the middle ages and therefore never fought yakra. frog instead faced him alone but likely still won. yakra`s decendant then did not replace the chancelor and the court room was likely never built because the real chancelor was in control in the present. yakra 13 therefore never replaced the chancelor nor did he had the dragon tank built. prometheus(robo) was never repaired because crono, lucca and nadia never had to escape to the future.

Sorry if this is long and drawn out, but I had fun theorizing.

why did Lavos not destroy the world when Magus woken it up early?
Perhaps Magus never truly summoned Lavos. Maybe he tried and failed? We don't hear anything about Lavos showing up in 600 do we?

And why did Lavos's destruction in 1999AD kill the world and doom humanity when it didn't in 12000BC?
Perhaps as Codester said, he wasn't powerful enough at this point (65 million years wasn't enough. He needs 14,000 more years lmao) or maybe he only focused his attack on Zeal?

Why was Melchior present when Lavos awoke beneath the Ocean Palace after rebelling against the queen and being imprisoned within Mt. Woe?
I think we can assume that Magus showing up as the prophet was the cause of Melchior being trapped on Mt. Woe? Perhaps he said something to the Queen?

Why did the Ocean Palace not transform into the Black Omen, and what became of Schala and Queen Zeal?
Maybe it did transform into the Black Omen and was transcending (can i say that?) time and only when Crono and gang show up they decide to show themselves? They do arrive through a huge gate. What became of Schala? Perhaps she was infused with Lavos and became the Dream Devourer? (If this is in that new ending, forgive me, I have not seen it yet)

And another thing, how did the events during and after the Millenial Fair play out?
I think the answer to this question is the exact moment that our game starts and is the story of the game as we see it.

no problem. this is a topic for discussing the original time line so feel free to make your post long. in the original time line, nadia never traveled to the past so crono never went to rescue her. the big question however is why the telepod did not react with the pendant. my theory is that the gates was created by the regret of extinct humans after humanities extinction. in other words, some time after 2300.
i am pulling this back up. anybody got a link to the original time line?

About Lavos not destroying the world in 600 AD. It's possible he only bothers to spend the energy doing that if he sees humanity as a threat at the time. In Antiquity, and 1999 Humanity were very advanced. Lavos may have considered a first strike against them destroying them before they could threaten him. But in 600 AD humanity was no real threat.

I also think Frog mostly saved the Queen by himself since they didn't lose time thinking Nadia was her. So Yakra maybe never even got her to the church. Frog may have helped defend the bridge long enough for Magus to do his ritual which took him out of the picture, and ended the war.

Lavos obviously still blew up the Reptite lair, and started an Ice Age which actually helped the prehistoric Humans survive.

The only confusing timeline is Antiquity. I have a lot of questions about that one. Like how the Masamune came into existence originally. How Schala's pendant got passed down. And so on. Closest guess I have is that the Ruby Knife was given to Schala since the Sages still felt the Mammon Machine was unsafe. After the Sages, and Janus got teleported maybe she used the Knife on the Machine then used her magic to teleport herself out of the palace. So originally she survived with the others, and passed down her pendant. But in the new timeline she used all her magic to save Crono's friends so ends up being absorbed by Lavos creating the Time Devourer, and alternate timelines.
