CHRONO TRIGGER

Now, We Will Never get Chrono Break
Need I remind people about this article back when the DS version came out?
http://www.ign.com/articles/2009/06/08/square-enix-wants-better-chrono-trigger-sales

TL:DR. Square saw low sales of DS version as fans going "we don't care about Chrono Trigger instead of "We've bought this game three times already, stop repackaging it to us and give us something new."

They're going to take one look at the Steam Release, not understand why we don't like it, and then say "well. No Chrono Break!"

Though, with current Square, is that really a bad thing?

They even cancelled Chrono Trigger Resurrection and Echoes of Time, when they could buy the projects, Square have 0 faith in this game but they sell you at 15 euros a bad port -.-

I don't care what they want, they are not going to force me to buy garbage so they can later then ask me to pay for what might not be garbage but still probably will be garbage.

The steam community will mod this game, and make it great, then ill buy it.

if they don't understand why they are a bunch of morons. Come on, every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ company have this little department to handle it. If they really cared about anything they would have listened when they released FF6 crap.

So true. They are not putting in any effort into this. It's pretty sad really. Because of what I have noticed to be a sheisty business model, I will not be buying any more square games, or resubbing my ff14 account anytime soon.

I want to see some effort for the community, NOT demands of the community.

Anytime a big name company offers a dedicated fanbase an ultimatum like this, take note. Corruption has taken root at some very high levels.
I don't think anyone from Square reads these discussions.

Wow. This is the NEW version of Chrono Trigger. It's not a mobile port and it's not a PC port. This is the new version I bet we'll see on everything. Square-Enix is making the smart business decision and using one version of a product for multiple platforms instead of wasting time and money making many versions for one platform each. All of their good classics will probably end up like this. Personally, I'm overjoyed they are keeping these classics alive.

We already see this version on mobile - where it's ported from.

That article is wrong.

Unless Square-Enix re-programmed Chrono Trigger from the ground up (which they obviously did not do), it's a port from some system. In this case, it's clearly a port from the mobile version, since it has the mobile version's interface.

Just reciprocating what you stated- I share these thoughts exactly and did when that interview came out about the DS version as well. I bought it since I typically play through the game just once with each release(excluding the SNES version that I beat several times). You're right, I and many others just want more of the series and not the same stuff as great as it is.

Chrono Break was never going to happen. Art does not matter. Only money.
