And yes, I painted/paneled around windows and door frames, which does not usually count in this DLC -- and did not count in this case either.
Tomorrow I'll paint those rooms white and redo them from scratch to see whether I get the same result. This has notably not happened to me in the jobs OP was talking about, so it's not something that happens to everybody, some conditions must be screwy. If I am in the mood I verify my game files and restart the job, but right now I am almost done and can't be arsed.
As an aside, I despise, with the passion of a thousand suns, this nickel-and-time section counting, 20 of this, 38 of that. Just tell me what treatment to slap on the walls, and let me decide the proportions myself; nobody enjoys software that acts like a prison warden.
Yes, I checked and rechecked several times going over each paintable surface, I even painted the ceiling just in case. I can't get past 95% in one house and I think the other is stuck somewhere in the 80% range... I of course just finished both without getting to 100%. Just posted the issue so the devs would know.... but thanks for checking!
EXACTLY!!
Sorry devs, but this is justt horrible, horrible design.
Thank you! I will check that out next time I play that job!
Thank you for this.

Why didn't they just do the ceilings like they do the roof peaks and overhangs on the outside, making the entire area one single action? Seems like that would help....

Not sure what the ceiling has to do with hidden panels in a staircase

My statement was a response or rather an agreement to to statement 'Sorry devs, but this is justt horrible, horrible design.' from one of the other commentors, somehow I got it all out of context, I appologize. However, I stand by my question as it relates to the painting (all of it) mechanics since the last update/dlc.
In any case, the problem was gone the next time I logged in. I was all ready to do battle, but both rooms were at 100%. Could be that the latest patch fixed it.
