This is my struggle, I thought it was like the fences themselves, the scroll wheel lets you enlarge the fence but the gates are unchangeable. I hope they change this soon. it is driving me crazy!
No doubt! Hahaha!
Not in my game, it only makes another tiny gate section that you can't get through without putting in the other side.
We know that much, getting each side to become longer is the issue. Some say they are able to and others of us have not been able to get the desired result. This leads me to believe it is a bug.
This works with the wooden fence, but not with the metallic one. That one only gets two gates next to each other making two openings that would be pretty tiny even for a not super skinny human, and so way too tiny for horses or cows ;).

I can do this too, I want to be able to make the sections of the gate longer so it looks more like gates in real life. Gates are wide in order to keep animals from spooking and bashing into the sides of the gate or fence and injuring themselves as well as for being able to drive herds through. It is just a frustrating system to set up. You get random posts where you don't want them and it just doesn't look right imho.
