How to get pets to help?

Just curious if anyone figured out how this worked yet. I have a Golden and I saw him dig a hole once, but I couldn't replicate that he doesn't seem to carry paint. Wasn't sure if I was missing anything or if that's a thing that just takes time. He isn't a puppy so that's not the issue.

Still no answer.. I was hoping someone manage to figured it out by now. Wonder this myself..

You can hand adult dogs a paint can and they will take it from you. Both the dog and can must be highlighted in green. It's very buggy and you often get told that the dog is busy. I haven't figured out the hole digging yet. Was just on here hoping someone had, because I just put out a ton of trees for planting, lol.

Ha, figured it out!! Just pull the plants out of the pots, and bring your dogs to work with you. With 3 dogs randomly choosing holes and digging, I got 58 trees planted in about 10 minutes, and i only had to dig 1 of those holes myself!

I discovered just now that if you go to "place" a plant, but then put your shovel away instead of digging, the dog will do the digging for you. Presumably, they were coded that way so they don't interfere with the player doing the shovel work :D

Havent been able to get my dog to do anything. Tried the paint pot, and different ways to get them to dig a hole but it just follows me around or lays down. Totally pointless i guess. Unsure what the Pets DLC is for to be honest. I must be missing stuff. Been able to feed and play with the dog but no work.

Idk if you’ve figured it out yet, but it not. when you hit plant, put your shovel away^^ they should start digging away.
